Patient History <strong>and</strong><br />

Medications<br />

•Does patient have a disease which is amenable to<br />

treatment by the requested apheresis procedure<br />

•Does the patient/donor capable of sustaining the fluid<br />

shifts associated with apheresis<br />

•Certain medications, most notably antibiotics <strong>and</strong><br />

anticoagulant can be removed by apheresis - should be<br />

given immediately after the procedure<br />

•Angiotensin-converting enzymes (ACE) inhibitors
