MOKENA DISC GOLF ACE RACE RETURNS!
Each autumn, disc golfers gather at their local courses for one
purpose – to throw aces. Players all throw the same model disc
– a brand new, never-seen-before Discraft prototype disc that is
introduced each year especially for Ace Race. All participants
receive a player’s pack that includes 2 prototype discs and other
goodies. There will be at least 36 holes, one throw per hole per
player. Player with the most overall aces will win a valuable prize
package as well. Pre-registration is a must for this tournament.
Deadlines will be adhered to in order to have enough player
packages for all. Three divisions: Men (16 and over), Women
(16 and over) and Juniors (under 16). Registration for Mokena
Park District residents will open on May 1, 2012. Non-resident
registration will open on June 1, 2012.

NFL PUNT, PASS, AND KICK – RESCHEDULED!
Grab your sneakers (no cleats) and come on out. This contest is
open to boys and girls ages 6-15. The age divisions are: 6-7, 8-9,
10-11, 12-13, and 14-15, with boys and girls competing separately
(age is determined as of December 31 of the current year). For
each age division, the top scorer for the boys’ division and the
top scorer for the girls’ division, from each Local Competition will
advance to the Sectional Competition. It is free to register. Please

eligibility requirement. Competition will be held at Mokena Main
Park, 10925 LaPorte Road, Mokena. Participants must have copies
of their birth certificate to compete.

STOCKINGS FOR OUR TROOPS
Sunday, November 11, 2012 • 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center
Make this holiday season a memorable one for you and our
troops. We invite you to gather at the Oaks Recreation & Fitness
Center on Veteran’s Day to decorate holiday stockings for the
troops overseas. We will supply everything needed to decorate
a stocking. DONATIONS NEEDED. We would appreciate donations
of fabric, craft items, and old Christmas cards to be used for this
event. Please drop your donations at the Park Office. We are also
collecting small items to be used as stocking stuffers. Stockings
and donations are then put together and sent to the troops by
“Operation Care Package”. Suggested stocking stuffers: protein
bars, nuts, sunflower seeds, trail mix, deodorant, shampoo and
conditioner, etc. A Letter Writing Station will also be available for
anyone who would like to write a note to a serviceperson to be
included in your stocking.
“TERROR OF THE NIGHT”
For the very first time, the Scary House on Fiona and
the Mokena Park District will offer a Haunted Trail in the
Woods at Main Park, 10925 LaPorte Road, Mokena, IL.
Surrender yourself and your soul as a prisoner to the Grim
Reaper, as the woods come to life as you wander along the path
of darkness. Beware as you enter the “Terror of the Night” (not
intended for young children – rated PG-13).
The trail will be open 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., on the following
weekends:

October 26-27, 2012
Admission fee required – “Terror of the Night” is not included in
the admission fee for Halloween Hollow. Join us on Facebook for

NEW
HALLOWEEN HOUSE DECORATING CONTEST
Judging: October 18 & 19, 2012
Our annual House of Frights is back! Decorate your residence
for this “spook-tacular” holiday and register to win great
prizes. Registration is FREE! Judging will take
place between 6:30-9:30p.m. on October 18 & 19
and is based on creativity, originality, design, and
layout. Contestants do not need to be present
during judging. Winners are determined in two
categories: Amateur Ogres (for those who
have not won a prize previously) and Master
Monsters (for those who have won in the
past). Winners will be notified by phone the
week of October 22. Call the Park Office at 708-390-2401 to submit
your entry by Monday, October 15.
PRIMETIMERS - Tuesday Get Together
For those 55 plus! Games, cards, crafts, and friendship on a weekly basis. Our hostess
Priscilla Winkleman will bring sunshine and laughter to your day. From time to time,
Primetimers may need to be cancelled to accommodate Park District programming. In most
cases, cancellations will be announced in advance.
