SCARECROW PARTY<br />

Join us for a special Scarecrow Party! We’ll be listening<br />

to the children’s story “The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t<br />

Afraid of Anything”, and then we’ll make our very<br />

own scarecrow just like in the story. (Of course our<br />

scarecrow will be made out of construction paper!) We’ll<br />

also have time for games and a pizza dinner. Ages 4-6.<br />

SIMPLE MACHINES BUILD-A-THON<br />

If you enjoy building with Legos ® and would like to understand how<br />

machines work, this class is for you! Join COMPUTER EXPLORERS<br />

and build models of real-life devices such as a drawbridge,<br />

windshield wipers, a car, or a conveyor belt using Lego ® Simple<br />

Machines Kits. Concepts of pulleys, levers, wheels, axles, and<br />

gears will be reviewed and students will bring projects to life<br />

using battery operated motors. They will explore, investigate,<br />

and solve problems in a group environment. Who says learning<br />

can’t be fun? 2 children per Lego ® kit. Ages: 8 – 12 years.<br />

SUPERHERO MOVIE-MAKING – SPIDERMAN,<br />

BATMAN AND FRIENDS<br />

Join COMPUTER EXPLORERS and create your very own stopmotion<br />

animation movie featuring Spiderman, Batman, and<br />

friends. Students will create story-boards and scripts, design<br />

sets using Legos and other props, use digital cameras for filming<br />

and special effects while creating the Super-Hero movie of their<br />

choice. Students will receive a copy of the class movies on a CD,<br />

and can premiere their movies for family and friends on the last<br />

day of class. Ages 8-12 years<br />

If you love to play video games, here is an opportunity to design<br />

your own in the new (advanced) version of our popular class! Dive<br />

into the world of video game design with COMPUTER EXPLORERS<br />

by creating and programming characters that interact with one<br />

another. Afterwards, you will receive a copy of your game so that<br />

your friends can play and you will even be able to continue to<br />

work on your project after class is complete. Whether you are a<br />

beginner or more advanced student, there are many possibilities<br />

to show off your design skills. Ages 8-12 years.<br />
