administration of their philanthropic
plans. It was Edwin Shaw’s desire that
the board, made up of not less than five
Collyer, Frank, Litchfield, O’Neill, Polsky
and McIntosh were joined by Harvey S.
Firestone Jr., John S. Knight, J. Penfield
Seiberling, Paul E. Belcher and Forrest D.
Myers to become the first 11 trustees of
Akron Community Trusts, which in 1982
became Akron Community Foundation.
Lisle M. Buckingham served as legal
counsel and secretary until 1957, when
he also became a trustee.
