gratitude to the Pinmar Team
for doing your part to prevent
child sexual abuse in the
Balearic Islands. Since our
inception five years ago,
RANA has dedicated our
resources to eradicating this
form of mistreatment and
violence against children by
raising the consciousness in
the community of the
prevalence of sexual abuse
through awareness, educational
and outreach activities. Experts estimate that one in four
girls and one in six boys could be sexually abused before
their 18th birthday. Less than one in ten will tell.
The Allen Graham Charity 4 Kidz supports
children in need on the island of Mallorca.
Dedicated to giving a future to mistreated and abused
children now in care, many of whom have been
traumatised and scarred by their experiences.
Providing study materials and learning skills needed
for that important step of leaving residential care and
integrating back into the community.
Our sincere thanks to the many, many generous people
who have given so much and we trust will continue
to help us.

RANA’s prevention program offers training courses,
workshops and educational programs to professionals,
parents and responsible adults on how to better recognize
and act responsibly when faced with the knowledge or
suspicion of an abuse. We provide private consultations and
an orientation to hundreds of calls and visits each year from
concerned family members, teachers, neighbors, professionals
and priests. As the rate of reported abuse has risen 60%
in the last two years in the Baleares, we believe we are
achieving our goal of breaking through the barriers of this
taboo topic and creating an environment that allows for the
cycle of recovery for many children to begin. Last year, we
began a program offering psychological treatment to adults
who have been sexually abused in their childhood, assuring
that these victims also have chance to lead successful and
productive lives without carrying the burden of their abuse
in silence and in shame.
We are raising money to create a day centre which is
to become a childrens’ hospice based on the philosophy
of those already existing in Europe and the USA. As yet
there not one existing in Spain.
We will support family members caring for
children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses or
children with limited life-expectancy, as this will also
improve the quality of life of the sick child.
This centre will be a home for parents, brothers and
sisters and other family members and carers, where
they can relax, feel understood and
accompanied and disconnect from life’s daily
wear-and-tear by finding diversion, empathy,
support and qualified professional attention.
The Charities
This year’s charity fund is mostly going to be given to local charities which help children in various ways. As usual several of
these were chosen by the winners of the previous tournament - Cheetah Moon.

This generous donation from Pinmar will be used to
sponsor the newest aspect of our prevention program,
the “Cuentacuentos” or Storytelling Sessions. Through the
use of a children’s story, “Estela, Cry Out Loud!” and
a didactic guide, our staff members enter into the classrooms
of students aged 6 to 11 and re-enact the story of Estela,
a young girl who learns how to protect herself from being
bullied and sexually abused.
