WATERFORD REGIONAL SPORTS CENTRE<br />

The newly refurbished Waterford Regional Sports Centre provides full leisure facilities<br />

to the local community and meets the training and coaching needs of competitive players<br />

and athletes. The Sports Complex is also home to Waterford United FC. Built by Waterford<br />

City Council in a Public Private Partnership, it received €750,000 in <strong>Lottery</strong> funding last<br />

year from the Department Of Arts Sports and Tourism, bringing its total <strong>Lottery</strong> funding<br />

to €6.4m.<br />

IONAD RÉIGIÚNACH SPÓIRT PHORT LÁIRGE<br />

Soláthraíonn Ionad Réigiúnach Spóirt Phort Láirge, atá athchóirithe le déanaí, áiseanna<br />

iomlán fóillíochta don phobal áitiúil agus freastalaíonn sé ar riachtanais traenála agus<br />

oiliúna imreoirí iomaíochta. Tá an tIonad Spóirt mar bhaile freisin ag club sacair Waterford<br />

United. Thóg Comhairle Chathrach Phort Láirge é i gcomhpháirtíocht phríobháideach<br />

phoiblí agus fuair sé €750,000 d’airgead an Chrannchuir anuraidh ón Roinn Ealaíon,<br />

Spóirt agus Turasóireachta. €6.4m ina iomláine atá faighte aige d’airgead an Chrannchuir.<br />

SPECIAL OLYMPICS IRELAND<br />

The Department of Health allocated €45,000 in <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> funds<br />

towards the cost of delivering a vaccination programme to the Special<br />

Olympics Ireland Team members participating in the Special Oympics in<br />

China. Pictured below is Sarah Meade, from Dublin, who won a Bronze<br />

medal in softball at the Athletics track at the <strong>2007</strong> Special Olympics.<br />
