Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships
Indigenous Commonwealth Education
Costs Scholarships:
• Annual allowance for up to four years of
an undergraduate degree.
Indigenous Commonwealth
Accommodation Scholarships:
• Annual allowance for up to four years of
an undergraduate degree.
Commonwealth Indigenous Access
Payments:
• One-off lump sum payment in first year
of the degree.
Number available: Dependant on
government funding.
All Indigenous students who apply for Access
Melbourne will be considered.

Students must apply through VTAC for a
University of Melbourne course in 2012.
Students must also submit a SEAS
application through VTAC.
SEAS applications open 1 August and close
11 October 2011.
No separate scholarship application is
required.
Other Indigenous Scholarships
The University’s Murrup Barak Melbourne
Institute for Indigenous Education
administers the Indigenous Scholarship
Program, which provides specific
scholarships such as housing bursaries,
book vouchers, assistance with living costs
and general grants.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate:
• They are an Indigenous person of Australia
• They meet the eligibility requirements of the
scholarship.

Eleanor and Joseph Wertheim Scholarships
• $20 000 annual payment for the
normal duration of the course, subject
to satisfying academic progress
requirements.
Number available: Up to two.
To be considered, applicants must:
• Be an unmarried female of at least 25 years
of age at the application closing date
• Be an undergraduate, graduate coursework
or research student enrolled or planning to
enrol full time (at least 37.5 credit points per
semester) at the University of Melbourne
• Have at least 12 months left to complete
their course
• Receive a means-tested Centrelink benefit
• Provide evidence of social or financially
compelling circumstances such as refugee
background, medical condition or disability.
Eligible applicants must submit a direct
application to Melbourne Scholarships.
