Norway – Loevaashagen cooperative hous<strong>in</strong>g, Bergen<br />

Loevaashagen cooperative hous<strong>in</strong>g was constructed <strong>in</strong> Bergen <strong>in</strong> 2008. This was the first<br />

apartment build<strong>in</strong>g with passive house standard to be realised <strong>in</strong> Norway. The project consists<br />

of 28 apartments <strong>in</strong> two 3-storey build<strong>in</strong>g blocks.<br />

Loevaashagen cooperative hous<strong>in</strong>g consists of<br />

Technical features<br />

Air tight and super <strong>in</strong>sulated envelope solutions, double wood frame construction<br />

(walls) and I-beams (roof), cold bridges avoidance<br />

Passive house w<strong>in</strong>dows, total U-value < 0.8 W/(m 2 K)<br />

Vacuum solar collectors, type Apricus (German)<br />

Simplified water based heat<strong>in</strong>g system (Norwegian)<br />

User friendly demand control system<br />

Ma<strong>in</strong> actors <strong>in</strong>volved were Bybo (developer), ABO Architects, CTC (heat<strong>in</strong>g system),<br />

NorDan (passive house w<strong>in</strong>dows), and SINTEF Byggforsk as expert advisers. The project<br />

received f<strong>in</strong>ancial support from The Norwegian State Hous<strong>in</strong>g Bank and Enova, a public<br />

enterprise aim<strong>in</strong>g for energy efficiency and new renewable energy.<br />

<strong>Energy</strong> demand<br />

Net total energy demand are calculated to 65 kW/m 2 /year, of which 13 kWh/m 2 /year are for<br />

space heat<strong>in</strong>g. Air leakage of the envelope is measured to n 50 < 0.6 ACH.<br />

Conclud<strong>in</strong>g remarks<br />

Loevaashagen cooperative hous<strong>in</strong>g stands as a successful result of an <strong>in</strong>tegrated energy design<br />

process. The costs for additional measures compared to conventional build<strong>in</strong>g are calculated<br />

to 1.000 NOK/m 2 (~ 122 Euro/m 2 ). The apartments were sold at normal marked price.<br />

The simplified water based heat<strong>in</strong>g system is developed <strong>in</strong> laboratory <strong>in</strong> Norway, and is<br />

applied for the first time <strong>in</strong> these passive houses.<br />
