too hot for her to carry me. I get a nice
breeze through the holes in the basket and a
nice view from inside. I liked the leather merchant
with the big heads. They were very interesting
– and very big. I wouldn’t want to
meet that alligator on a beach.
One night we went to a “paa”. It sounds a
lot like “paw” but apparently it’s written
“pas”. Very strange. Anyway, it’s a special
tournament where the heralds get to brag
about the fighters before the fighters get to hit
each other.
Fighters like to hit each
other a lot. There were lots
of fighters hitting each
other, but I didn’t see a lot
of them, because the battles
were back at the old battlefield.
Our friend Heinrich
got authorized to fight during
Lilies and it was a lot of
work. And Gregorii was
authorizing as a Fighter Marshal. Apparently,
that’s a job where you make sure that the fighters
aren’t hitting each other too hard and getting
hurt. It sounds like an important job.
Our last night at Lilies was very busy. We
had a yummy supper, where Thorir asked
Sofya to sing the song she sang at the Russian
event. Then we all got together to take a picture.
Then Sofya took Royse as her first apprentice.
And then there were fireworks. I
could hear the fireworks. I couldn’t hear anything
else the whole war, but I heard the fireworks.
It wasn’t a bad sound. It was just
strange to hear anything at all. I watched the
fireworks for a few minutes. And then I took
a nap.
The next morning, Sofya and Sifrid packed
everything up. I was much more calm about
that than I had been with the set-up. I guess
even an old dog can learn new tricks.
It was a good war. I like the Middle Ages.
