is always out back of the handicap parking<br />

area. We only had fun shoots setup for those<br />

that wanted to warm up for the one hundred<br />

arrows or just wanted to practice.<br />

Tuesday I just stayed around the camp and<br />

worked on arrows and bolts. This year I did<br />

not participate in the Queens Yeoman competition<br />

but did marshal it. At the end it was<br />

reported that Truetvin was the highest Fyrd<br />

with Kenneth being second, however Juliana<br />

had a higher score than Kenneth; the score<br />

keepers were just too rushed to notice it in<br />

time. So this is to recognize the effort as this<br />

is a very tough competition with archery (long<br />

bow), knifes, axes and spears. Congrats to all<br />

those that participated.<br />

I only marshaled and helped at the one<br />

hundred arrows until Thursday when I shot<br />

my one hundred arrows. I only got a score of<br />

one hundred and twenty-one, but some of<br />

that was due to bolts not working, and not<br />

practicing with the crossbow as much as I<br />

should have.<br />

Friday afternoon was the Fyrd sponsored<br />

shoot. Several of our shire, and adopted, were<br />

participants in the shoot that was very long,<br />

and it challenged their accuracy at many targets<br />

and ranges including speed rounds. I am<br />

proud to say they all shot well and honorable.<br />

One of our archers bested all except one of the<br />

cross bow shooters and his name is Johan von<br />

Berger. Well done Johan! The one that beat<br />

him was not only using a cross bow but was<br />

already going to be a Fyrd, Ronan just did not<br />

know it yet.<br />

In the one hundred arrows tournament,<br />

we were represented again by a lot of Hilians:<br />

Johan, Brigida, Juliana and I with Iamis as<br />

one of the alternates. Not bad for a small<br />

shire. Note, only the top sixteen from each<br />

type of bow get in. After a lot of good shooting,<br />

and the most shoot offs from tied scores<br />

that I have ever seen, I was the only Hillian<br />

left in the final shoots. I had to shoot<br />

against Samuel apDewi. I had already been<br />

beaten by him, but was sure I could shoot<br />

better now that I knew what bolts were not<br />

working. However he beat me again, since<br />

it was not only skill but speed. Anyway, I<br />

came from last year, not beating anyone in<br />

the finals, to finishing second this year to a<br />

very good out of kingdom archer. Congratulations<br />

Sam (See you at Gulf next<br />

year). Next year with a little more practice,<br />

a little better equipment, and maybe a little<br />

more luck it will be different. That does go<br />

for not only myself but all those that entered<br />

the tournament. Ethan, Bran, Brigida,<br />

Johan, Iamis, Juliana and William.<br />

Thanks to all of you for making this a<br />

fun Lilies (also I did finally get my scroll<br />

from Gulf Wars - WOW).<br />
