<strong>Tour</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>England</strong> 1995 21<br />

RON SHEAN<br />

A country boy from the New South Wales rural<br />

town <strong>of</strong> Boorowa, Ron is expected to share the<br />

new-ball on tour. A player who thrives on<br />

pressure situations, Ron has been consistent<br />

with the ball since he joined the <strong>Club</strong> in 1989.<br />

In the short time he has played for the '<strong>Creek</strong><br />

he has taken over 100 wickets at a shade under<br />

20 apiece. A Telecom technician born in the<br />

sixties, Ron is reputed to be partial to a drop <strong>of</strong><br />

the amber liquid and is looking forward to<br />

sampling the English beer irrespective <strong>of</strong> its<br />

temperature.<br />

JAMIE TAYLOR<br />

Brought up in the New South Wales south<br />

coastal town <strong>of</strong> Bega, Jamie, at 22 years <strong>of</strong><br />

age, is the third youngest member <strong>of</strong> the<br />

touring party. A. regular member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Club</strong>'s<br />

fifth grade team, he is an accurate medium<br />

pace right arm opening bowler. He is fighting<br />

for Peter Howes' batting spot which is just<br />

after the 9th wicket. Since his brother's return<br />

from the 1991 tour, Jamie has been saving<br />

towards this tour. When not playing cricket he<br />

works as a horticulturist.<br />

BRIAN WARD<br />

Born in South Africa, Brian played much <strong>of</strong> his<br />

cricket in Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg.<br />

As a school boy he represented his Province<br />

under the captaincy <strong>of</strong> Graham Pollock. Since<br />

coming to Australia his studies in Theology<br />

and missionary work in Manila prevented him<br />

from playing much cricket. Since joining the<br />

<strong>Club</strong> in 1987 Brian has made over 2800 runs<br />

at an average <strong>of</strong> 25.6 with a highest score <strong>of</strong><br />

157* Brian set a new <strong>Club</strong> record when he<br />

made 730 runs at an average <strong>of</strong> 40.5 in the<br />

1990-91 season and won the <strong>Club</strong> batting<br />

award. A public servant, Brian was born in<br />

the early 1940s.
