A.2.3 <strong>QoS</strong> Parameters for SMS and MMS<br />

Short Message <strong>Service</strong> (SMS) and Multimedia Message <strong>Service</strong> (MMS) are two services generally<br />

provided by mobile service providers. The ETSI EG 202 009-V1.2.2 (2007-01) specifies some<br />

user-related parameters for the SMS and MMS. Some <strong>of</strong> these parameters and their definiti<strong>on</strong>s are<br />

summarised herein.<br />

c<strong>on</strong>fidence calculated from this number.<br />

Ratio <strong>of</strong> correctly send and received SMS between two terminal<br />

equipments. The following statistics should be provided separately:<br />

- Ratio <strong>of</strong> successfully send and received short messages;<br />

- Number <strong>of</strong> observati<strong>on</strong>s used and the absolute accuracy limits for 95%<br />

c<strong>on</strong>fidence calculated from this number.<br />

It is the period starting when sending an SMS from a terminal equipment<br />

to an SMSC and finishing when receiving the very same SMS <strong>on</strong> another<br />

terminal equipment. The following statistics should be provided<br />

separately:<br />

- The mean value in sec<strong>on</strong>ds for sending and receiving short messages;<br />

- The time in sec<strong>on</strong>ds within which the fastest 95% <strong>of</strong> short messages<br />

are sent and received;<br />

- The number <strong>of</strong> observati<strong>on</strong>s performed.<br />

Maximum, mean value and standard deviati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> the time to receive the<br />

delivery notificati<strong>on</strong><br />
