Classroom Policy
Welcome to Seventh Grade Math! Get ready to learn and have a great year!
Grading Scale
Grading Policy
90-100 A 40% Tests/Projects
80-89 B 40% Quizzes
70-79 C 20% Assignments
60-69 D
0 – 59 F
This year I am looking forward to teaching an exceptional group of Deerlake citizens. In addition to learning about the
world of math, we will also practice the value of respect. According to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, respect is defined
as “paying particular attention to” or “holding in high regard”. Students will show respect in the classroom, in all areas
of their education, and to all people. An outstanding and respectful Deerlake citizen will follow all classroom, grade
level, school, and county rules.
Each student’s nine weeks grade is comprised of 40% tests/projects, 40% quizzes, and 20% assignments. Assignments
are reviewed, checked, and/or graded each time they are given, and they may also be collected for an occasional quiz
grade. Tests/projects are scheduled in advance, but not all quizzes are announced, so be prepared at all times.
Students are expected to turn in work on time and when it is due. Late work is accepted after an excused absence, in
accordance with the Deerlake make-up work policy (please review the make-up work policy). Students should keep up
with their work as extra credit is not typically given. If tests/projects, quizzes, or other assignments are announced
before an absence, the student will be expected to take the test/quiz or turn in the project/assignment the day they
return to school. An outstanding citizen will always be prepared with all materials, and have their assignments ready on
time.
Each student will be assigned a textbook which is to remain at home. We will have a set of books to work from while in
the classroom. Each day the student should bring to class a three ring binder (with three dividers for 1- Notes,
2- Assignments/Classwork, and 3- Quizzes/Tests/Projects), notebook paper, pencil, colored pen, student planner, and
any assignments that are due. Students will also be issued workbooks. Charges for lost or damaged texts and
workbooks will be assessed appropriately. Notes will be taken on new topics taught, and the notes may be collected for
a grade. Grades will be posted to the internet regularly.
Assignments should be recorded in the student planner and graded work should be in the student’s binder for
reference. Weekly work will be on my website (www.deerlake.leon.k12.fl.us/bedingfieldc) each Monday. If you are
absent you should check here for the day’s assignment and have it ready when you return to school. This website will
also be your best resource for announcements, worksheets, and extra tools. The textbook is available online and will be
linked to the website as well. Students will also be completing some assignments directly from the website or the
internet. For this reason, the internet is vital, and internet permission is required for all students.
With your 7 th Grade Team Letter you will find an attached student information sheet. Parents please sign and complete
the sheet and return it to your child’s C period teacher. Your signature on the information sheet shows your
acknowledgement of this classroom policy letter, and also gives permission for your child to participate in supervised
viewing and use of the Internet for educational purposes. The use of the internet and technology are an integral part
of this class.
For further information or questions, I can be reached by phone at the school (922-6545), or by email at
