About the photographer<br />

James Wasserman began his photographic career covering the life of the city,<br />

shooting for a <strong>Philadelphia</strong> weekly. Over the 20 years since then he has worked<br />

regionally, nationally <strong>and</strong> internationally. His photographs have appeared in<br />

Newsweek, Time, The New York Times, Far Eastern Economic Review, Le Nouvel<br />

Observateur <strong>and</strong> other publications. He has had one-man exhibitions at the<br />

Painted Bride Art Center, Old City Coffee, <strong>and</strong> Nexus Gallery. He has recently<br />

relocated to China, where he is exploring the impact of the changing<br />

l<strong>and</strong>scape on peoples’ lives.<br />
