• Most critical part of the receiver is the security module (SM), which is
of the highest priority for EC. A high knowledge and a long process of
development (+- 3 years) are needed. The SM is a driver in the cost of
the receiver (mid term target : +- 100 € for production of 10 000/ year
in 2016)
• Security Module studies will be welcomed and analysed carefully in
FP7 3 rd call (+- 3 to 5 M€), depending on the quality of the proposals

Security Aspects
• Management of keys and control of access:
– shall be compatible with existing procedures (in particular for PMR users or
Defence organisations) therefore as “invisible” as possible for the users.

• Accountability of receivers
– Accountability/Report of loss is in most cases an usual procedure
– Interest for a “kill” capability such as used for communication Receiver
