● ● Supply <strong>of</strong> 260,000 Family Packs: Executed dur<strong>in</strong>g 2008-09 for IDPs<br />
<strong>in</strong>side and outside conflict zones. Supplies conta<strong>in</strong>ed daily use items<br />
such as cloth<strong>in</strong>g, utensils, essential food packets, personal hygiene<br />
items, etc. at a cost <strong>of</strong> US$ 8 million<br />
● ● Sett<strong>in</strong>g up <strong>of</strong> Emergency Hospital: Executed <strong>in</strong> Pulmoddai and<br />
Vavuniya (Menik Farm – Zone I) <strong>in</strong> 2009 to treat about 50,000 patients.<br />
The Hospital carried out 3000 major and m<strong>in</strong>or surgeries. The project<br />
was implemented at a cost <strong>of</strong> INR 24,470,500/-<br />
● ● Supply <strong>of</strong> Shelter Material for IDPs: 10,400 MT <strong>of</strong> Galvanized<br />
Corrugated Iron Sheets were supplied to IDPs between August 2009<br />
and May 2011, to help build temporary shelters for about 65,000<br />
families at a cost <strong>of</strong>: $11.78 million.<br />
● ● De-m<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g: Seven <strong>India</strong>n de-m<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g teams were deployed <strong>in</strong> <strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Lanka</strong><br />
s<strong>in</strong>ce 2009 to remove landm<strong>in</strong>es and UXOs to facilitate resettlement <strong>of</strong><br />
IDPs at a cost <strong>of</strong> $10 million.<br />
● ● Supply <strong>of</strong> Cement Bags: 400,000 cement bags (about 20,000 MT)<br />
were supplied <strong>in</strong> 2010 for resettl<strong>in</strong>g families to help build transitional<br />
shelters at a cost <strong>of</strong> $1.75 million.<br />
● ● Agriculture Renewal: 95,000 packs <strong>of</strong> agricultural implements were<br />
distributed to IDPs to help commence their agriculture at a cost <strong>of</strong><br />
US$2 million.<br />
● ● Supply <strong>of</strong> tractors and mach<strong>in</strong>ery: 500 four-wheel tractors with farm<br />
implements, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g rotovator, disc plough, n<strong>in</strong>e-t<strong>in</strong>e tiller and cage<br />
wheels were delivered to Agrarian Service Centres <strong>in</strong> the Northern<br />
Prov<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>in</strong> Nov-Dec 2010 at a cost <strong>of</strong> US$ 6 million.<br />
● ● Seeds: Green gram (5500kgs) & black gram (43000kgs) seeds were<br />
supplied to farmers <strong>in</strong> November 2010. The project was implemented<br />
at a cost <strong>of</strong> INR 4,606,000/-<br />
● ● Supply <strong>of</strong> fish<strong>in</strong>g boats, equipment, nets, etc.: Provided to<br />
cooperative fishermen’s societies compris<strong>in</strong>g IDPs <strong>in</strong> the Vaharai area<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Eastern Prov<strong>in</strong>ce at a cost <strong>of</strong> US$1 million.<br />
● ● Limb Refitment Project: Two camps were organized, utiliz<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
services <strong>of</strong> the world-famous Jaipur Foot organization to fit artificial<br />
limbs and other devices to war victims, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g IDPs and disabled<br />
soldiers. The project implemented at a cost <strong>of</strong> INR 13,673,000/- helped<br />
2,563 beneficiaries to rega<strong>in</strong> mobility, dignity and sustenance.<br />
● ● Establishment <strong>of</strong> Nenasalas (e-learn<strong>in</strong>g centres): 20 Nenasalas<br />
were set up <strong>in</strong> western and southern <strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Lanka</strong> <strong>in</strong> 2007-08; another 20<br />
Nenasalas were set up <strong>in</strong> the Eastern Prov<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>in</strong> 2009-10. Total cost<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Project was INR 12.50 million<br />
● ● Rail Bus Project: Aimed at improv<strong>in</strong>g connec tivity and enabl<strong>in</strong>g<br />
affordable means <strong>of</strong> travel between Batticaloa and Tr<strong>in</strong>comalee and<br />
from eastern cities to <strong>Colombo</strong>. <strong>India</strong> gifted 10 Rail Buses which run on<br />
exist<strong>in</strong>g rail tracks. The Cost <strong>of</strong> the Project is INR 30 million.<br />
