First quarter 19th century, five with grey printed crown and script mark, one<br />

unmarked, each with borders painted in the ‘’Rich Kakiemon’’ style in the ‘’Dejeuney’’<br />

pattern of polychrome flowers within trellised oval cartouches on a cobalt blue<br />

Worshipful Company of Glaziers of Newcastle upon Tyne<br />

Probably 19th century, modeled as the blazon of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers<br />

crested by a lion’s head between two wings azure, the supporters two boys holding<br />

torches, over a banner bearing the motto ‘’Lucem Tuam da Nobis o Deum’’ (‘’O God,<br />

Give us Thy Light’’), 20’’ H x 35.5’’ W x 2.5’’ D, est:$600/900<br />

Condition: With marks, scratches, cracking, flaking and rubbing to surfaces. Top<br />

half of left-hand wing broken off and repaired. Fingers of left hand of figure on right<br />

side broken off and repaired. Torch and fingers of right hand of figure on left side<br />

broken off- not retained. A three-inch-long loss to bottom edge of rear. Some dirt<br />

1059 A Victorian five-light silver-gilt candelabrum, Hunt & Roskell<br />

1872, London, with maker’s marks, further marked to base ‘’Hunt & Roskell Late Storr<br />

& Mortimer’’ and ‘’6192’’, the sockets, central stem and s-form branches decorated<br />

with grape leaves and clusters, over a C-scroll-decorated tapering baluster stem and<br />

tripartite base, the base engraved with two crests one a Phoenix atop a striped baton<br />

and inscribed ‘’Vincit Omnia Veritas’’ (‘’Truth Conquers All’’); the other Brittania and<br />

inscribed ‘’London & Northwestern Railway Company’’ , 24’’ H x 9.25’’ Dia., 161.2 oz<br />

Note: Hunt & Roskell were silversmiths and jewelers to Queen Victoria. The firm was<br />

founded by Paul Storr in 1819 and traded as Storr & Co until 1822, then as Storr &<br />

Mortimer (1822 - 38), Mortimer & Hunt (1838 - 43), and then as Hunt & Roskell (1843 -<br />

97). The firm remained in business as Hunt & Roskell Ltd until c. 1965. Provenance:<br />

Private Collection, Ventura, CA. Condition: General marks, scratches, rubbing, and<br />

wear to surfaces. Extensive oxidation, as visible in photos. A large area of base with<br />

gilding rubbed off. A tip of one grape leaf broken off and re-attached. One candlearm<br />

Both London, each with removable heads, the first: makers mark ‘’JBH’’ (James<br />

Barclay Hennell), date marked 1880, modeled as Mr. Punch’s dog Toby, wearing a hat<br />

and neck ruff; the second: with maker’s mark ‘’HSB’’, underside of body inscribed<br />

with name of London retailer: ‘’MacMichael, S. Audley St, W’’, modeled as an<br />

unclothed hound; 2 pcs, 8.7 oz troy tw approximately, the first 3.25’’H x 1.5’’W x 2’’D;<br />
