6 From the President of the Women’s Board The Goodman’s 2010/2011 Season included three exciting events planned and hosted by the Goodman Theatre Women’s Board, plus a very successful Women’s Board Annual Fund campaign led by Co-Chairs Linda Aylesworth and Mindy Berkson. In all, the Women’s Board projects raised $1.75 million for the theater. A portion of these funds was allocated to sponsor the world premiere production of Chinglish. On September 26 we launched the Goodman’s 10th anniversary on Dearborn Street with a Season Opening Celebration featuring Candide, directed by Manilow Resident Director Mary Zimmerman. The festivities included cocktails and dinner at the Modern Wing of the Art Institute, a special tribute to Founding Chairman Stanley Freehling and Honorary President Lewis Manilow, and a performance of Candide at the Goodman. Special thanks goes to Co-Chairs Carol Prins and John Hart, Vicki and Bill Hood and Susan and Bob Wislow for their leadership of this wonderful event. Hindman and Peter C.B. Bynoe for a very successful and entertaining evening. In celebration of the theater’s 10th anniversary on Dearborn Street, the annual Gala, “One Enchanted Decade,” was held on May 21 at the Goodman, followed by dinner and dancing at The Fairmont Chicago. Headlining the event was Matthew Morrison, from the hit TV series Glee. Not only was the event a fantastic party, it also raised funds to support the Goodman’s education and community engagement programs. Honorees that evening included Life Trustees and Past Chairmen James E. Annable, Sondra A. Healy, Deborah A. Bricker and Carol Prins; Past Chairmen Lester N. Coney and Shawn M. Donnelley; and Honorary Chairman and Life Trustee Albert Ivar Goodman. Thanks to the leadership of our Gala Co-Chairs Margaret Janus and Swati Mehta, it was a truly extraordinary evening.
