Redeemer Alumni Where are they now? Marcus Thorn (84) was a founding student at Redeemer Lutheran College. Highlights since attending Redeemer have included travelling to Hawaii, Palm Springs, LA. He has also recently become a Grandfather to Jasper Ryan, born on 14 October 2009. Elizabeth Lyons (09) was a recent recipient of the QUT Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship and was received the award at a presentation ceremony held at QUT on Monday 8 March 2010. Tracey Doe (Tipler 90) attended Redeemer for Years 11 and 12 in 1989 and 1990 and has been living in London for the last 11 years working as an Accountant. Tracey has been married to Nigel for 9 years, and have a 2 year old girl, Annabel and another on the way in February 2010. Andrew Bain (91) is currently lecturing Church History at the Queensland Theological College at St Lucia and is married to Robyn. They have a 2 year old daughter, Guinevere. Heath Gleig-Scott (91) started his legal career rather late (wouldn’t have changed it though as he has been happy to gain “life experience”!) and is now working at MDRN Solicitors Capalaba after a total of 14 years in CBD firms (in both administration and professional roles. Heath is engaged to Caitlin, who is a Vet at the Animal Emergency Service Clinic at Underwood. They will be married on 12 June 2010. Ian Bailey-Mortimer (Mortimer 91) completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours at UQ from 1992-1995, majoring in Pure Mathematics and Computer Science. From 1996-2001 he worked as a computer programmer for various companies, and in various locations including Colorado, USA (as well as Brisbane). Ian was married to Laetitia Bailey in 1998 and have travelled to Germany and the UK in 2003-2004. Ian studied at Christian Heritage College throughout 2005-2006, and then worked as a teacher at Mackay Christian College from 2007-2009. Ian and Laetitia moved back to Brisbane at the start of this year to commence a teaching position at Calvary Christian College. Joel Pukallus (93) is a Lutheran Pastor, and after 7 years working most recently in a role in the Lockyer Valley Lutheran Parish and Faith Lutheran College at Plainland. Pastor Joel has accepted a call to St Peter’s Lutheran College in Indooroopilly as “Residential Pastor” and once again finds himself living on a Lutheran School campus as he did for most of his student years at Redeemer. His Son Joshua (6) begins at St Peters in Year 1 this year, with his younger son Jacob to begin Prep there in 2011. Pastor Joel is married to Anne (who is the younger sister of former Redeemer staff member, Susan Seng.) Leigh-Chantelle Koch (96) organised the Green Earth Festival held at the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens on Saturday 13 March 2010. For more information, visit: www.greenearthfestival.net Danni Stumer (03) has been working at the Ballon Outdoor Education for the past 6 since where she commenced in 2004. In mid 2008 she travelled to California USA to work as a waterski instructor and life guard at a summer camp for three months. In mid 2009 she took three weeks to explore Australia, travelling through Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia. Danni has completed her qualifications in Outdoor Education and Wilderness First Aid and enjoys teaching her many students now to survive in the bush. Sherita Thambiratnam (08) is currently finishing her degree in Economics at QUT, and has just won the QUT First Year Prize for best performance in business! Redeemer Alumni Engagements Weddings Andrew Parison (95) and Jodie Buhse (05) Heath Gleig-Scott (91) is engaged to Caitlin, who is a Vet at the Animal Emergency Service Clinic at Underwood. They will be married on 12 June 2010. Andrew Parison (95) and Jodie Buhse (05) became engaged on 27 November 2009. They are planning to get married in May 2011. Sarah Ware (01) married Stephen Handreck on 2 January 2010 at Redeemer Chapel. The bridal party included Paula Leigh (Ware 03) and Fiona Ware (04) as well as Amy Lee (04) and Beren Matthews (03). Sarah Ware (01) and Stephen Handreck Linda Vickers (99) has announced her engagement to Mr Scott Greedy. They hope to be married at the end of this year. Linda is a Pharmacist at the Logan Hospital and is continuing studies for Linda Vickers (99) and Scott Greedy a Masters degree after specialising in Diabetes Education until recently. Scott is a partner in an accounting firm on the North side of Brisbane. Linda is the daughter of longstanding staff members, Bruce and Sandra Vickers. Anya Powell (03) is engagement to Isaac Braiden and will be married on 6 November 2010. Births Leigh and Jonathan Klupp (85) gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Riley Joshua Klupp on 30 March 2010. Steve and Janelle Hamling (98) would like to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Talitha Louise Hamling, 7lb 4oz (3290g), born 27 December 2009 at 01.23am. Erin Ludwig (01) Scott Weily, Anna Brammall (01), Brent Weily, Sarah Weily (Vietheer 01), Grant Weily, Sarah Thomas (01), Chris Cantwell, Danielle Profke and Brad Vietheer (04) Sarah Weily (Vietheer 01) married Grant Weily on 22 November 2008 at St John’s Lutheran Church, Eight Mile Plains. Photography Sterling Studios: Chris Knoblauch (01) Bonnie Sikkema (03) and Lachlan Black were married on 20 December 2008. Lachie and Bonnie made the move to Townsville in March 2010. Sarah Eddie (04) and Shaun Norris Sarah Eddie (04) married Shaun Norris on 9 January 2010 at St Luke’s Anglican Church in Toowoomba followed by a reception at Picnic Point overlooking the Lockyer Valley. Sarah was accompanied by her bridesmaids Kirsten Russell, Georgina Hodes (04) and Sharna Gleeson. Sarah and Shaun honeymooned in Thailand. Riley Joshua Klupp Talitha Louise Hamling In Memoriam David Annear-Walker (85) passed away on 28 December 2009. He was living in Ballina with his long term partner Amanda. He had just enjoyed Christmas with his family, including his father, mother and two sisters. In God’s Care. The Funeral service was held on Friday 8 January at Albany Creek Lakeview Chapel. Marcus (Groomsman), Catherine Lam (‘Best Woman’), Derrick Lam, Kimberley West (04), Jessica West (08) (Maid of Honour) and Dale West (‘Bridesman’) Kimberley West (04) married Derrick Lam at the Brisbane Registry Office on 17 March 2010 in front of immediate family then had a celebration day on Saturday 20 March.
