Ms Hannah Richter
Junior School, Year 5 Teacher
I graduated from Redeemer Lutheran
College in 2005, and God definitely
answered my prayers when I was given
the opportunity to come back and teach
in the Junior School as a Year 5 teacher.
I am truly humbled by the overwhelming
support and compassion from staff.
Before graduating from Griffith University, I have spent my
schooling in numerous Lutheran Schools and having a father
as a Lutheran Pastor, I was immersed in the ‘Lutheran culture’.
I have learnt the importance of strong Christian values, role
models and compassion. As a teacher I want to provide my
students with the opportunity to learn and share parts of my
own faith with my students.
In my personal life, I cherish my time spent with family and
friends. I love anything to do with art, crafts and creativity and
love exposing my students to this. It is always good fun trying
to find new challenges in this area. I also love getting outdoors
and exploring in rainforests and going to the beach with friends.
And when I get the time, putting my feet up and reading a book
or watching a movie are some of life’s greatest pleasures.
This year has brought many rewarding experiences from really
getting to know my students as wonderful individuals to seeing
their faces light up when they finally understand something
they have struggled with. It truly has been gratifying and very
entertaining at times! I look forward to all the new and exciting
experiences Redeemer has to offer.
Mr Frank Ford
Middle School Teacher
I was born at Warrnambool on the south
west Victorian coast and never expected
I would be spending the final years of my
teaching career at Redeemer Lutheran
College in Queensland. For many years
I held senior administrative positions in
a number of Victorian government and
independent secondary schools. About eight
years ago, my life suddenly changed. I met and married Narelle
Bowden, a past teacher from Redeemer who taught at this
college for 21 years.
Narelle works as an Overseas program Coordinator for Australian
Lutheran World Service. After several years of marriage, she took
me on trips to Mozambique and Cambodia. Five years ago we
went to PNG and stayed for three years, while Narelle managed
a number of ALWS projects in this country. During these three
years I was the Curriculum Coordinator at Coronation College,
Lae – an International High School. When we returned to
Australia last year, I spent a term working at Redeemer as a
supply teacher and this year received a permanent appointment
as an English and SOSE teacher in Years 8-10.
I enjoy teaching in the Christian environment at Redeemer
College. As a Catholic, I believe my faith as received a new
dimension through my daily experiences in a Lutheran
environment. One of my main activities outside of teaching is
my involvement with St Vincent de Paul Society and its many
outreach projects to those in need. I am looking forward in the
future to assisting with musical productions at Redeemer and am
currently involved with inter-school debating. My other interests
are my family and friends, gardening and reading. My students
will tell you that I have a passionate interest in the Collingwood
AFL team.
Mr Adrian Ford
Senior School, Wilson House Leader
I was born in England and moved to
Melbourne with my family when I was
six. After completing primary school my
family and I moved up to Brisbane for my
dad’s work for 6 months. This has been
the longest 6 months of my life as I am still
in Brisbane! I attended St Peters Lutheran
College for all of my high school years and
after graduating I began studying a Bachelor of Behavioural
Studies. After a year of that I realised that my passion was
really in education and working with young people. I had some
fantastic teachers as I went through school and it was because
of the time and effort that they put into me that caused me to
want to become a teacher.
I have a passion for seeing young people realise their potential
and encouraging them in all areas of their lives. During my
university studies I worked back at St Peters in the boarding
house and then moved into a teaching position at the
completion of my studies. I have taught in senior, middle and
junior schooling and have enjoyed all areas. I especially like
working with senior students.
In my personal life I am married to Emily and we have two
young boys, Josh (3) and Timmy (1). In my spare time I love
playing with the boys, playing volleyball and I am involved at
my church in the worship team and youth events.
