Diraya, A Region-Wide Integrated Information and Healthcare Management Support System
José Luis Rocha Castilla, Secretary General for Quality and Modernisation, Regional Ministry of Health of Andalusia,
Spain
Diraya is the electronic healthcare management and information system of the Andalusian Public Health System (APHS). APHS is
the healthcare and public health services provider in Andalusia (Spain), a region with 8.5 million inhabitants. Since the 90’s, the
APHS has incorporated the use of information technologies into healthcare services, starting at primary care, and integrating other
settings of care: emergency services, outpatient, inpatient, and pharmacies. Continuity of care is stressed throughout the healthcare
system. Today, the electronic health record covers 100% of the population at primary care level. Come and learn more about Diraya
– a leading best practice example in Europe.
MedCom E-Record
Jens Rahbek Nørgaard, Senior Consultant, MedCom, Danish Healthcare Network, Denmark
Denmark has managed to build a national Health Record System: “E-Record” (Danish: E-Journal). Today 80% of the population is
represented in the system. Both health professionals at hospitals, GPs and all citizens have access to this information. All health
record information is delivered from EHR-systems or other clinical Hospital Information Systems. Every GP-clinic and clinical
workstation of hospitals can access the E-Record system by contextual links.
The benefits of the E-Record are: Patient Empowerment, easy access to information from other hospitals and a higher level of
patients safety. E-Record is planned to contain information from GPs in 2012 and will be a part of an upcoming National Health
record.
Assembling National Exchange of Health Information in Slovakia Using epSOS Experience
Peter Kazik, Director General, Informatics Department, Ministry of Health, Slovak Republic
Michal Danilak, eHealth Senior Consultant, Slovak Republic
Based on a traditional organisational structure of health care providers, the eHealth systems in Slovakia were from the very beginning
built basically on local and in some cases also on a regional level resulting in lack of interoperability on a national level.
eHealth systems in Slovakia contain plenty of communication standards to be used. Our experience from the epSOS project is
choosing to work with International communication standards for health information exchange. The epSOS international profile of
communication standards could be also slightly modified on the national level, thus securing international interoperability of national
eHealth systems using the national connector on one hand and learning from the epSOS piloting experience on the other hand.
