RHF Celebrates 50 Years
Friend of the Elderly Award
Since 2001, Larry Minnix has served as President and CEO of LeadingAge,
formerly the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging
(AAHSA). LeadingAge is the national advocate for 5,600 nonprofit providers
and the millions of persons these members have served over the past 50
years. 2011 also marks the 50th Anniversary of LeadingAge.
For more than 35 years, Larry has been a passionate advocate for leadership
and innovation in not-for-profit aging services. He entered the field as an
administrative intern at Wesley Woods Center of Emory University, where
he went on to serve as CEO. He also served as a LeadingAge board member
prior to joining the association as its CEO.
Larry has translated his passion into practice as LeadingAge’s CEO.
During his tenure, he established the LeadingAge Center for Aging
Services Technologies (CAST), and developed programs to address
important issues like workforce retention and regulatory reform.
Larry received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in 1969
from Emory University with a major in psychology. Following
that, he entered Candler School of Theology, and graduated with a
Master of Divinity in 1972, and later received a Doctor of Ministry in 1977.
RHF is pleased to present the 2011 Friend of the Elderly Award to
William L. (Larry) Minnix, Jr
Resident of the Year Award
Boneata Kautz was the first person to move into Westover Manor on
November 18, 1989. She has always taken an interest in the community,
organizing potlucks, including set up and clean up, has served on the
resident association, and put together fundraisers for the association. She
is in charge of the exercise class, helps with Bingo and monthly birthday
parties, arranges for the bus to the grocery store every week, and sets up
visits with the visiting nurses. It is reported that she likes to stay busy,
and she certainly does.
RHF is pleased to recognize Boneata Kautz as 2011 Resident of the Year.
Local Board Member of the Year
In 1989, Retirement Housing Foundation opened
Westover Manor, a 39-apartment HUD 202 building
member of the board since 1993, when he became pastor
of Hope United Church of Christ.
He attended the Chicago Theological Seminary and
In addition to his governance work at Westover
Manor, he has led Bible studies for residents and
staff and encouraged his church to assist with financial
contributions to parties and other festivities. We
acknowledge with gratitude all of his years of service,
and we know that as he retires, he will be greatly missed by the residents and staff of Westover Manor.
