Donations are sought to: 1. Sponsor a flag that will be displayed on a light pole on Main Street. 2. Sponsor a flag that will be displayed on the front of your business. (Or both if you like.) The sponsorship is $30 per flag and will be good for one year. The Burney Lions Club will install, remove and store the flags between holidays. All you would be asked to do is to remove the flag that is displayed at your location each night. Below are the holidays we plan to honor. 1. Martin Luther King Day 2. Memorial Day 3. Flag Day 4. News online poll results LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Could not have completed project without help Editor: I’ve recently completed the project portion of my quest to attain the Eagle Scout rank with Boy Scouts of America. It is my sincere desire to honor the men and women who have made sacrifices and served our great country, but I could not have completed the project without the help of many community members, my family and friends. I would like to especially thank The American Legion Post 441, Burney Lions Club and Mr. & Mrs. Bob Sales for their support and financial Contributions. The crosses will be placed on the graves of our service men and women on three annual holidays, Veterans Day, Memorial Day and Fourth of July. It is wonderful to know that she touched so many lives and was cared for by so many. The cards, prayers, donations, food and hugs made it possible for us to know that everything is going to be OK. The money for scholarships is earned from the auction at the Cattlemen’s dinner in the spring. These students worked hard to complete all state high school graduation requirements and the staff has high hopes for their accomplishments in the future, said Laura VanAcker, executive director. She wishes them the best and has every confidence in their abilities as they move on to the next major step in their lives.
