<strong>Important</strong> <strong>Events</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Opening</strong> <strong>Days</strong><br />
The opening of school is a busy time. The following schedule provides an outline of the activities in the<br />
opening days to allow you and your child to plan ahead; please review it carefully and keep it <strong>for</strong> reference.<br />
There will most likely be a few changes, and if you have any questions, please call the school. Dress <strong>for</strong><br />
opening days is classroom dress, although students should also have athletic clothing with them.<br />
Tuesday, September 6:<br />
New International Students and Parents arrive and register at Gibbs Dining Hall between 1:00 p.m and 2:45<br />
p.m.<br />
New International Students and parents meet with advisers and faculty and participate in orientation<br />
activities. Please note that there are no overnight accommodations on campus <strong>for</strong> students.<br />
Wednesday, September 7:<br />
New International Student placement testing, parent meetings, 9:30-12:00. New International Parents may<br />
depart after lunch if desired.<br />
New Boarding Students arrive between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. New Day Students arrive between 2:45 and 3:30<br />
p.m. Families should check in at the Admissions Office where they will receive dormitory and adviser<br />
assignments.<br />
Reception <strong>for</strong> New Parents between 2:45 and 4:30 p.m. New Day Parents are invited to the reception be<strong>for</strong>e<br />
or after they meet with their child's adviser.<br />
Activities <strong>for</strong> all New Students, both national and international, on Memorial Field. Boys should be dressed<br />
<strong>for</strong> outdoor activity.<br />
Meeting <strong>for</strong> new parents of color at 3:30.<br />
<strong>Important</strong> meeting <strong>for</strong> all New Parents at 4:15 p.m in the assembly area of the Learning Center with the<br />
Headmaster and administrative faculty. Parents should plan to leave after this meeting.<br />
New Student meeting in the Learning Center after dinner <strong>for</strong> all new students.<br />
New Day Student pick-up in Day Student Loop at approximately 7:30 p.m.<br />
Thursday, September 8:<br />
New Students meet in the assembly area of the Learning Center at 9:00 a.m.<br />
New Students participate in an academic orientation, a campus tour, and general orientation activities.<br />
Students will need a bathing suit.<br />
Returning Boarding students arrive between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. Returning Day Students arrive between<br />
4:00 and 5:00 p.m. Families should check in at the Admission Office where they will receive dormitory and<br />
adviser assignments.<br />
Reception <strong>for</strong> Returning Parents in the library between 2:00 and 5:45 p.m. Day Parents are invited to the<br />
reception be<strong>for</strong>e or after they meet with their child's adviser.<br />
Following supper there will be a meeting of all old students followed by a full school meeting <strong>for</strong><br />
announcements regarding sports, school boundaries, laundry and campout.<br />
Day Student pick-up in Day Student Loop at approximately 7:45 p.m.<br />
Friday, September 9:<br />
Day Students arrive by 8:20 a.m.
Brief classes with final course selection, dorm and day student meetings, first athletic practices in<br />
afternoon.<br />
Day Student pick-up, in Day Student Loop or gym lot at approximately 4:45 p.m.<br />
Saturday, September 10:<br />
Day Students arrive by 8:20 a.m.<br />
Classes, Sixth Form Meeting, afternoon study hall.<br />
New Student camp-out required <strong>for</strong> all new students. New Students return to campus from camp-out<br />
around noon on Sunday but remain at school <strong>for</strong> sports and Sunday Meeting.<br />
All dorms will have Sixth Form meetings in the evening and participate in leadership activities with the<br />
New Student campout. All Sixth Form Day Students are asked to attend. Sixth Form day Students may<br />
sleep overnight in their assigned dorm.<br />
Returning Under<strong>for</strong>m Day Student pick-up in Day Student Loop or in gym lot at approximately 4:45 p.m.<br />
Sunday, September 11:<br />
Football equipment distribution: 12:30 <strong>for</strong> Sixth Form, 1:15 <strong>for</strong> Fifth Form, 2:15 <strong>for</strong> Third and Fourth Form<br />
Returning Day Students arrive <strong>for</strong> sports 2:45 p.m. Sports begin at 3:00 p.m.<br />
Required athletics <strong>for</strong> all students in the afternoon, required Sunday Meeting (classroom dress) <strong>for</strong> all<br />
students after a 5:30 p.m. supper.<br />
Day Student pick-up in Day Student Loop at approximately 7:30 p.m.<br />
Monday, September 12:<br />
Day Student drop-off 8:20 a.m.<br />
Regular Class Day Schedule<br />
<strong>School</strong> photo day (most Sixth Formers wear coat and tie <strong>for</strong> pictures).<br />
The regular daily and weekly school schedule will begin at this point.<br />

Monday, October 10: Day Parent Conferences at 7:15 p.m.<br />
Wednesday, October 12: Country Fair Preparation Night<br />
Friday, October 14: Country Fair. Parents are invited to attend classes<br />
Saturday, October 15: Country Fair: fair activities, athletic events, parent/teacher conferences. Parents are<br />
invited to take their children off campus <strong>for</strong> the remainder of the weekend after their child's last obligation<br />
on Saturday. This is the first time when New Students may take weekends away from campus. Classes<br />
resume on Tuesday, October 18.
