Important Events for Opening Days
The opening of school is a busy time. The following schedule provides an outline of the activities in the
opening days to allow you and your child to plan ahead; please review it carefully and keep it for reference.
There will most likely be a few changes, and if you have any questions, please call the school. Dress for
opening days is classroom dress, although students should also have athletic clothing with them.
Tuesday, September 6:
New International Students and Parents arrive and register at Gibbs Dining Hall between 1:00 p.m and 2:45
p.m.
New International Students and parents meet with advisers and faculty and participate in orientation
activities. Please note that there are no overnight accommodations on campus for students.
Wednesday, September 7:
New International Student placement testing, parent meetings, 9:30-12:00. New International Parents may
depart after lunch if desired.
New Boarding Students arrive between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. New Day Students arrive between 2:45 and 3:30
p.m. Families should check in at the Admissions Office where they will receive dormitory and adviser
assignments.
Reception for New Parents between 2:45 and 4:30 p.m. New Day Parents are invited to the reception before
or after they meet with their child's adviser.
Activities for all New Students, both national and international, on Memorial Field. Boys should be dressed
for outdoor activity.
Meeting for new parents of color at 3:30.
Important meeting for all New Parents at 4:15 p.m in the assembly area of the Learning Center with the
Headmaster and administrative faculty. Parents should plan to leave after this meeting.
New Student meeting in the Learning Center after dinner for all new students.
New Day Student pick-up in Day Student Loop at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, September 8:
New Students meet in the assembly area of the Learning Center at 9:00 a.m.
New Students participate in an academic orientation, a campus tour, and general orientation activities.
Students will need a bathing suit.
Returning Boarding students arrive between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. Returning Day Students arrive between
4:00 and 5:00 p.m. Families should check in at the Admission Office where they will receive dormitory and
adviser assignments.
Reception for Returning Parents in the library between 2:00 and 5:45 p.m. Day Parents are invited to the
reception before or after they meet with their child's adviser.
Following supper there will be a meeting of all old students followed by a full school meeting for
announcements regarding sports, school boundaries, laundry and campout.
Day Student pick-up in Day Student Loop at approximately 7:45 p.m.
Friday, September 9:
Day Students arrive by 8:20 a.m.

Brief classes with final course selection, dorm and day student meetings, first athletic practices in
afternoon.
Day Student pick-up, in Day Student Loop or gym lot at approximately 4:45 p.m.
Saturday, September 10:
Day Students arrive by 8:20 a.m.
Classes, Sixth Form Meeting, afternoon study hall.
New Student camp-out required for all new students. New Students return to campus from camp-out
around noon on Sunday but remain at school for sports and Sunday Meeting.
All dorms will have Sixth Form meetings in the evening and participate in leadership activities with the
New Student campout. All Sixth Form Day Students are asked to attend. Sixth Form day Students may
sleep overnight in their assigned dorm.
Returning Underform Day Student pick-up in Day Student Loop or in gym lot at approximately 4:45 p.m.
Sunday, September 11:
Football equipment distribution: 12:30 for Sixth Form, 1:15 for Fifth Form, 2:15 for Third and Fourth Form
Returning Day Students arrive for sports 2:45 p.m. Sports begin at 3:00 p.m.
Required athletics for all students in the afternoon, required Sunday Meeting (classroom dress) for all
students after a 5:30 p.m. supper.
Day Student pick-up in Day Student Loop at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Monday, September 12:
Day Student drop-off 8:20 a.m.
Regular Class Day Schedule
School photo day (most Sixth Formers wear coat and tie for pictures).
The regular daily and weekly school schedule will begin at this point.
Day Student pick-up 4:45 p.m.

Wednesday, September 14: Home Night
Wednesday, September 21: Hilly Chase
Monday, October 10: Day Parent Conferences at 7:15 p.m.
Wednesday, October 12: Country Fair Preparation Night
Friday, October 14: Country Fair. Parents are invited to attend classes
Saturday, October 15: Country Fair: fair activities, athletic events, parent/teacher conferences. Parents are
invited to take their children off campus for the remainder of the weekend after their child's last obligation
on Saturday. This is the first time when New Students may take weekends away from campus. Classes
resume on Tuesday, October 18.
