➜ Are links to transit provided?<br />

➜ Are medium- to high-density land uses present?<br />

➜ Is the street network a grid?<br />

➜ Are street widths between two and four lanes?<br />

➜ Is parking used on the street (helping create a buffer between moving cars and <strong>pedestrian</strong>s)?<br />

➜ Is there an absence of interrupting driveways, or when there are a few driveways, are they designed <strong>for</strong> use by<br />

<strong>pedestrian</strong>s?<br />

Good Streets<br />

➜ Are the sidewalk environments:<br />

- continuous and wide enough <strong>for</strong> couples?<br />

- buffered from traffic with landscape strips?<br />

- shaded with street trees?<br />

➜ Are lanes narrow (10 to 11 feet) and/or appropriate <strong>for</strong> the area type (neighborhood, commercial, downtown,<br />

etc.)?<br />

➜ Are medians present?<br />

➜ Are bicycle accommodations (bicycle lanes, signs, etc.) provided?<br />

➜ Is the number of lanes appropriate <strong>for</strong> the traffic volume?<br />

➜ If there are any one-way streets, are motorists’ speeds and yielding behaviors supportive of walking?
