As promi sed, in about eight weeks my new engine was received. Barry took out his engine and installed the new one. He did not use the hole on the oil cooler. He removed the 1/4" plug at the top front of the engine and installed the probe directly into it. This is the location TCM recommends. I hope that others fl ying with a probe installed at the oil cooler location will have it installed with the correct longer adapter bushing. Moving it to the recommended location is a better idea. If it is not, you may also experience an engine failure if the probe should break. TCM declined to give me warranty credit, but at least I got the core credit. They do not disclose their results on engine teardown and laboratory analysis (for liability reasons?). The total cost of my engi ne failure was about $33,000, including the two engine removals and two installations. Flying is not cheap! I learned that in 1969, the year I became a pilot. Yes, the engine failure was traumatic. BUll handled it successfull y and I continue to experience the joy of flying. I do admit, however, to having had some nervousness on my first few flights after the emergency. May this be the only engine failure ever experience. I hope to continue fly ing to exotic destinations and to have the speed, comfort and convenience of my Bonanza for many more years. N1512W is Max Grogan's second Bonanzo.
