Energy efficient
• Aluminium has a very high thermal efficiency, transferring heat efficiently from the water to the radiator. They require much
lower volumes of water to heat up and this helps reduce fuel bills when compared to other radiators.
• This thermal efficiency also makes them very easy to control and fast to respond to changes in temperature, heating up
and cooling down quickly.
• Aluminium radiators are more lightweight making them easy to handle and install, especially on stud walls.
The use of renewable energy sources is on the increase;
• Heating systems fuelled by renewable energy tend to work with lower water temperatures than oil or gas fuelled systems;
this will affect the heat output achievable from any radiators.
• The thermal properties of aluminium make this type of radiator more efficient with low temperature systems and reduces
the need for a larger radiator to achieve required heat output.
• In some situations there is a need to mix radiators and under floor heating on the same system. Aluminium radiators are a
good option in these cases, as under floor heating tends to run on lower system temperatures.
TRV Valves
Thermostatic Radiator valves automatically control the heat output of
individual radiators. Sensors within the head of the valve adjust the flow of
water to the radiator depending on the ambient room temperature. TRVs
are now required as part of building regulations on new builds and most
conversion projects. See pages 92 - 100 for the complete range.
