IDC Herzliya ≤∞∞∏≠≤∞∞π The Annual Conference of the International Institute for Counter- Terrorism (ICT) The conference has become one of the most important events in the world, in the field of research on terrorism and counter-terrorism. The conference traditionally begins around September 11 and continues for four days, during which leading experts from academia, senior security officials and decision makers from around the world deliver lectures. For additional information, see www.ict.org.il. The Radzyner School of Law The school’s activities include convening the annual conference of the IDC Herzliya law journal, “Law and Business”. In addition, the school organizes a moot court which is heard by a panel of judges usually chaired by a member of the Israeli Supreme Court. The Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy The schools’ activities include the Herzliya Workshops for Improving Governance in Israel, which aims to discuss fundamental problems in Israeli government and public policy, to draw conclusions and to propose solutions to decision makers. In addition, it organizes the Democracy Day, which is dedicated to an issue at the center of the public debate and which features panels composed of professionals, academics and government officials and a Hyde Park-like fair of student’s ideas. 30 Events & Conferences
IDC Herzliya ≤∞∞∏≠≤∞∞π The Efi Arazi School of Computer Science The school organizes events and activities including a lecture series called “Computer Science for Real (CS4Real)” featuring developers, scientists and entrepreneurs from leading companies in various fields of the high-tech industry; Vision Day, the annual Israeli conference for computerized vision during which research by leading researchers in the field from Israel and abroad are presented to academics and professionals interested in hearing about cutting-edge research on computer vision; the Siggraph Israel conference of the Siggraph organization, in which many academics and professionals are active and which aims to promote research and cooperation in computer graphics in Israel; conferences related to the specialization in information and networks security organized in cooperation with OWASP, an international organization of volunteers that promotes the issue of applied internet security; and meetings of ILPMA, the leading Israeli organization of product managers, with an emphasis on knowledge industries and high-tech companies. The Sammy Ofer School of Communications The school’s activities include an annual conference on Communications across Borders in cooperation with Michigan State University. The conference provides a meeting point for leading researchers from Israel and abroad who conduct research in different fields and who represent a variety of theoretical approaches and methodologies. It aims to examine the role that innovative communications systems and technologies can play in increasing cooperation across geographic, social and cultural borders. The New School of Psychology The school convenes the annual Herzliya Symposium on Personality and Social Psychology, in which social psychologists from leading universities abroad present their work on a specific topic in the field (e.g. pro-social behavior, aggression and violence). In addition, starting this year, the school will convene the Herzliya Symposium on Developmental Psychopathology, at which developmental psychologists from leading universities abroad will present their work on a specific developmental disorder (this year the conference will be dedicated to understanding and treating anxiety disorder in preschoolers). In addition, the school organizes a series of evening seminars on psychology and law in cooperation with the Radzyner School of Law. 31 Events & Conferences
