<strong>The</strong> Forty-Niner<br />

Eligibility<br />

Must be enrolled in full time attendance at a postsecondary<br />

educational institution in <strong>Alberta</strong>.<br />

Can be a current member of the Association, or an<br />

immediate family member of an Association member<br />

(immediate family is limited to: spouse, sibling,<br />

children).<br />

Can be a serving member of <strong>The</strong> Loyal Edmonton<br />

Regiment, in which case the applicant must have<br />

above average attendance on unit parade days and<br />

exercises and have the recommendation of the<br />

company commander.<br />

Can be a serving member of a cadet corps affiliated<br />

with <strong>The</strong> Loyal Edmonton Regiment, in which case<br />

the applicant must have above average attendance<br />

on unit parade days and exercises and have the recommendation<br />

of the cadet unit commanding officer.<br />

No less than 1 bursary shall be available annually<br />

to any member of the public notwithstanding that<br />

they are not a member of the Association, or an immediate<br />

family member of an Association member,<br />

or a serving member of <strong>The</strong> Loyal Edmonton Regiment.<br />

All Applicants must apply for the Bursary by submitting:<br />

A copy of tuition fee receipt for current academic<br />

year<br />

Letters of reference (if applicable)<br />

Proof of post secondary admission<br />

A copy of academic record, of the most recently<br />

completed year of study.<br />

Submission<br />

Applications must be submitted no later than October<br />

30 and February 28 – dates may be extended by<br />

the committee as required.<br />

Selection & Application Procedure<br />

<strong>The</strong> Association Executive will appoint three members<br />

of the Association to form the Selection Committee.<br />

<strong>The</strong>y should represent the three major<br />

groups within the Association, namely:<br />

World War II veterans<br />

Post World War II members of the unit<br />

Current unit serving members<br />

For Regimental applicants, selection will be<br />

made based on<br />

Attendance<br />

Reliability and Loyalty<br />

Conduct and Deportment<br />
