<strong>THE</strong> LOYAL EDMONTON REGIMENT<br />

1951 - 1953<br />

1ST CANADIAN INFANTRY BATTALION,<br />

27TH CANADIAN INFANTRY BRIGADE<br />

GROUP<br />

new CF Service Dress Uniforms were issued (quite<br />

late for the reserve units) a cloth Mobile Command<br />

badge was worn on the sleeve of the Battle Dress<br />

and Summer Service Dress uniforms<br />

A small enamel badge for the Mobile Command was<br />

worn on the right front breast pocket of the new CF<br />

Green Service Dress uniform.<br />

LAND FORCES COMMAND<br />

1997 - present<br />

In 1952 Canada formed the 27th Canadian Infantry<br />

Brigade to serve with the British Army on the<br />

Rhine. It consisted of three infantry battalions.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re was a Highland battalion, a rifle battalion<br />

and a Line Infantry battalion. <strong>The</strong> Loyal Edmonton<br />

Regiment provided two rifle companies to the<br />

Line Infantry Battalion known as the 1st Infantry<br />

Battalion, 27th Canadian Infantry Brigade Group.<br />

<strong>The</strong> distinguishing badge for this battalion<br />

was a French gray shield with a red bayonet<br />

superimposed, surmounted by a gold curved<br />

“CANADA”.<br />

In 1997 the Canadian Forces were reorganized and<br />

the Force Mobile Command became Land Forces<br />

Command. A new enamel badge replaced the old<br />

breast badge.<br />

1997 - present<br />

MOBILE COMMAND<br />

1967 - 1974<br />

With the unification of the Canadian Armed<br />

Forces in 1967 Canadian Military was divided into<br />

commands. <strong>The</strong> army became known as the Mobile<br />

Command (later Force Mobile Command). Until the<br />

In 1997 the 41st Canadian Brigade Group was<br />

formed. A formation badge was approved for<br />

wear on the right upper sleeve of the Distinctive<br />

Environmental Uniform. This is the formation<br />

badge which the regiment currently wears.<br />
