Pommen, passed away in<br />
Lethbridge on Monday,<br />
June 11, 2012 at the age<br />
of 96 years. Relatives and<br />
friends met with the family<br />
at the Southland Funeral<br />
Chapel, Taber, Thursday,<br />
June 14, 2012 from 7:00<br />
P.M. to 8:00 P.M. <strong>The</strong> Funeral<br />
Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 -<br />
50 Avenue, Taber, Friday, June 15, 2012 at 2:00<br />
P.M. with Reverend Sandra Riddell officiating.<br />
Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.<br />
Harvey is survived by his children Allen (Marjorie)<br />
Pommen of Vegreville, David (Suzanna) Pommen<br />
of Cranford and Nola (Lonny) Mackenzie-Grieve<br />
of Lethbridge; grandchildren Bradley (Amy)<br />
Pommen, Kimberley (Tyson) Christiansen, Shawna<br />
and Sarah Pommen, Keona and James Mackenzie-<br />
Grieve. He is also survived by his brother Edward<br />
(Margaret) Pommen of Lethbridge; brother-inlaw<br />
Floyd Tomlinson of Kelowna; sister-in-law<br />
Dorothy Pommen of Calgary. He was predeceased<br />

by his wife Magdalena Helen in 2005; siblings<br />
William Pommen, Elsie Morris, Tilley Pommen, Ida<br />
Matheson, Helen Hinton, Margaret Tomlinson and<br />
Arthur Pommen. Harvey was born in Moosehorn,<br />
Manitoba to Olga and Gottlieb George Pommen. His<br />
early years were spent on the family farm where<br />
he developed the skills he would later use on his<br />
own farm. In 1943 he volunteered to serve Canada<br />
in WWII and helped liberate Italy and Holland.<br />
He started the war with the PLDGs and was<br />
transferred to the LERs to fight with the Regiment<br />
in Italy where he was wounded and repatriated to<br />
Canada as a casualty. He sustained gunshot and<br />
shrapnel wounds and returned to Canada. After the<br />
war, he was able to farm northeast of Taber where<br />
he married and raised his family. After retiring from<br />
farming, he became an avid golfer and pursued the<br />
sport with great enthusiasm well into his eighties.<br />
He eventually retired to Lethbridge where he has<br />
resided until the time of his passing.<br />
