Unit One has six lessons on John 1-11. The unit begins with
a study of the whole Gospel of John. It points to its meaning.
The next lesson is about Jesus’ talk with Nicodemus. It is
followed by Jesus’ talk with the Samaritan woman. Jesus
healed the lame man. Then, Jesus fed the 5,000. The last
lesson deals with the raising of Lazarus.
All these lessons show Jesus in places where the
people were and with the people that He loves so much.
This is the meaning of “public ministry.” It is telling the
good news of God to all people. It is healing and helping
those who need it the most. It is preaching and teaching.
The first lesson also tells about John the Baptist who
had a public ministry. His public ministry ended not long
after Jesus’ public ministry began. He told others to follow
Jesus. Let’s learn about the public ministry of Jesus.
