Things To
Think About
1.Think how hard it
must have been for
John to talk about
Jesus when he had
never seen Him.
2. John knew Jesus
was the Son of God
right away. Would
you know Him?
3. We can know Jesus
with our minds and
with our hearts.
The Gift rejected! (1:10-12)
In those early days, when everyone looked forward to a
Messiah ( the Son of God), so many did not recognize Him. We
must be careful today not to miss who Jesus really is. Many
people today do not know Him. “He came to His own, but His
own did not receive Him” (1:11).
Jesus was a Jew. He came to His own people, the Jews.
But we must understand that we are all “His own.” Everything
in the world belongs to Jesus. “The earth is the Lord‟s, and all
that is in it, the world, and all who live in it” (Psalm 24:1).
If Jesus were here today, would we know Him? Most
pictures we see are of a white man. He has long hair and a
beard. But Jesus came from the Middle East part of the world.
He would probably have had dark hair and a light tan face. Do
you think we would know Him?
When you know who Jesus is you can receive Him. He
gives you the power to be a child of God. You can trust in
Jesus. Are you a child of God?
John the Baptist (1:15-18)
John the Baptist began his work. He was helping people
understand that the Messiah was coming. He was coming soon.
He told the people that God had sent His Son, that we all might
know Him. God sent His Son that we all might have everlasting
life.
Look at John 1: 19 - 28 in your own Bible. Some of the
proud religious leaders came to John. They wanted to know
who he was. They asked if he was Elijah. John was quick to tell
