Dear lvternbers.<br />
You may recall that in this space in the spring quarlerly I was so excited about the<br />
programs that your society had in place for the spring of 2011 Well I can now tel you<br />
that everything we planned was executed perfectly The four clinics were very well<br />
aitended, (due largely to the popularlty of the TV show Who Do You Think You Are')<br />
To cap off that success, we had 31 new members added to the roster of the society.<br />
The <strong>Carroll</strong> <strong>County</strong> Times-Georgian had a reporter at our final clin c conducted by<br />

African Americans.<br />
So, here we are wrth a new personality in our combined membeash p, new faces with<br />
new aspirations, new talents, new inteaests and now we just can't wait to incorporate<br />
them into the activities of the soc ety. To get a good stad on that, our Volunteer<br />
Committee has someone n the Special Col ections Room all day every Wednesday.<br />
The second hour of our meetlng time s devoted to ' conversation" among members who<br />
are looking fo. speciai help Our next few meetings will showcase different members<br />
preseniing their success in various methods of research (giving personal stories very<br />
similar to those of the stars on the TV program)<br />
ln September we plan an educational to!r of the <strong>Carroll</strong> <strong>County</strong> Records Vault<br />
And-just for members who live too far away to attend meetings-we offer member<br />
volunteers to assist you wrth searches that yoLr may have a need for here ln <strong>Carroll</strong><br />
<strong>County</strong>. Through ourweb srte, please make your specfic request. The requests w1 then<br />
be referred to a "buddy" who will be n contact with you<br />
The developmental stage of our new web site is progressrng very nicely You are gorng<br />
to love it We have a grant request submitted to offset the cost. And we are submitting<br />
another grant request for a commerc al scanner that will enable Lrs to put tems like the<br />
quarterly on the web So here we go off into the digita agel Thanks for being a part of<br />
this progress.<br />
