Joshua S. GAMMON, my great-grandfather; believed to be a brother or first cousin of<br />
Josiah GAITMON, 1816-1902, buried in Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church<br />
Cemetery. Joshua llved in Steele, St. Clair, Alabama, with his wife, daughter, and son in<br />
1859 but disappeared from records until he had a mailing address of Bowdon Post<br />
Office, <strong>Carroll</strong> <strong>County</strong>, Georgia, sometime between 1870 and his death on 16 February<br />
1882. Living grandchildren of Josiah definitety remembered their parents mentioning<br />
Joshua, but could not place the connection. My grandfather often stated that. "his people<br />
came from <strong>Carroll</strong><strong>County</strong>, Georgia." Both Josiah and Joshua are believed to have lived<br />
in the Blackhall District, DeKalb/Fulton, Georgia, prior to moving to <strong>Carroll</strong>, Georgia, and<br />
St. Clair, Alabama. Their parents possibly moved to DeKalb, Georgia from either South<br />
Carolina or North Carolina.<br />
