What is Advancement at ASP?
We get this question often, so we’ll explain!
“Advancement” is a word that can be defined in several ways,
but one thing is consistent – it’s about moving forward. At ASP,
we’re all about looking ahead.
As you settle into life at ASP, you’ll hear about our five-year
Strategic Plan and our campus development project. You’ll see
teachers walking around with iPads and discussing the “future of
learning”. Your students will experience once-in-a-lifetime learning
opportunities on a regular basis. These are just a few examples
of ways we stay ahead of the curve at ASP.
I think the Excellence Fund is a great opportunity
for students to strive for and achieve their
out-of-the-ordinary goals with the help of their
school. The Fund also gives applicants a view
into the world of grant-writing, an education in
and of itself.

The Advancement Office unites all of ASP – our faculty, staff,
parents and alumni – to form a community of both “do-ers” and
donors to keep ASP moving forward. Whether you are here for
two or ten years, we are here to help you be an active community
member while you are in Paris and after you depart.
We are a busy office with many visitors. We work closely with
Admissions and the Parent Faculty Association (PFA) to organize
welcome events. In November, we promote the annual appeal
– a global initiative inviting everyone to make a gift to support
our ASP students and faculty. In January, we collaborate with
the Board of Trustees to organize our Bonne Année community
cocktail.
Connecting our Community
We’re here to help you find your “role” at ASP — and
feel good about it! In the upcoming year, you’ll hear from
Advancement about:
Volunteering – Interested in lending your time or skills
to benefit ASP? Kim Sheehey, our Community & Alumni
Coordinator, works closely with our PFA and parent volunteers
to find the right “fit” for each person. You can reach

Giving – Each year the ASP community is invited to support
our students and faculty by giving to the Excellence
Fund. This unique and valuable resource allows us to respond
to immediate opportunities throughout the school
year and is invested in:
• Technology for learning
• Innovative educational programming
• Professional learning opportunities
In November, our entire ASP community will be invited
to make a gift to our 2013-14 appeal during our “30 Days of
Excellence” campaign. We hope you join the community
spirit!
Being involved with ASP allowed me to very
quickly integrate into our new life in France
and develop lasting friendships. Co-chairing
the Gala extended my involvement within the
ASP community and was a wonderful way to
raise funds to support the school through the
Excellence Fund. I encourage and welcome you
to become involved with the ASP community.

Celebrating – It’s important for us to gather together as
a community to celebrate our accomplishments throughout
the year. We encourage you to visit the Welcome
Program page to discover dates for the grade-level Parent
Welcome Cocktails in the fall (you can come to one or several!).
Please also mark your calendar for our Bonne Année
Cocktail – a complimentary community event sponsored by
our Board of Trustees for all parents, faculty and staff – on
February 1, 2014.
