Advanced Hebrew Class* Mondays 6:30-7:30 pm Starting October 29 with Dina Eliezer Learn how to read and speak Hebrew with Dina Eliezer, our Weitzman Family Religious School Director! Beyond Brisket and Bagels Taught by Tina Wasserman Monday October 15 7:30 - 9:00 pm A presentation about the history of Jewish cooking and its effect on world cuisine. Tina Wasserman, author of Entrée to Judaism Tina will lead us on a culinary journey around the world and across the ages, from Spain to India, from Russia to Tunisia, sharing the histories and recipes of the great Diaspora communities and the many wonderful ways they have told their stories through food. MITZVAH COMMUNITY Have an extra space at your High Holiday Table? Do you have room at your table for a member of our congregation who has no family or is new to our community, or for a college student who cannot go home for the holiday? We are looking for homes to provide a Kosher or a dairy holiday meal. If you can host at least two guests, please contact Dora Rudberg at cerudberg@sbcglobal.net or 972.247.6382 Sandwich Drive Benefitting Austin Street Shelter Tuesday, October 23 Drop off North and South from 7:30 am-1:00 pm 1. Sandwiches DO NOT need to be kosher since they are not being served at Shearith. 2. PB&J, egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad and meat sandwiches (turkey, salami) are favs. Please put mayo, Miracle Whip or mustard on the meat sandwiches. Lettuce on the sandwiches is an additional loving touch. 3. Put each sandwich individually in a ziploc sandwich bag, marked with the contents (including dressing). The plastic bag is enough; please do not put it into brown bags as all sandwiches are sorted into large boxes. 4. Please buy individual small bags of chips, cookies, or pretzels (Sam’s, Costco, etc.). Small bags with mini carrots and celery sticks are great and can be packaged by hand or bought pre-packaged. 5. Deliver to Shearith’s North entrance by the playground (entrance next to the Toll Road). If you live north, you may also drop them at the home of Carol & Harold Pinker 7014 Dartbrook, 75254 during this time.
