Wishfull Thinking (Alflora) set off keenly and soon
opened up a sizeable lead, while his rivals, led by Sizing
Europe (Pistolet Bleu) and Kauto Stone (With The
Flow) were content to follow at their own pace; still a

strong one. Approaching the long run in to the Pond
Fence, Wishfull Thinking faded fast, as Sizing Europe took
up the running. He was driven clear approaching the last
and coasted home to win comfortably from Kauto Stone.
This was the current Champion Two Mile Chaser’s fifth
win at the highest level and his ninth Graded win from 28
starts.
He is a half-brother to the Gr.3 Guinness Handicap
Hurdle-third The Spoonplayer (Accordion) and is out of
the unraced Jennie Dun (Mandalus). Her dam, Lakelands
Girl (Deep Run), was also unraced and did not produce a
winner prior to being exported to Saudi Arabia in 1994. The
third dam, the unraced Charlie Girl (Vic Day), produced
five winners, including the dam of the Stakes-placed
chasers Zelda’s Fancy (Touch Paper) and Coursing Guy
(Crash Course).
