Inspector means, an <strong>AB</strong>SA Inspector, or a person who meets the qualification and<br />
competence requirements defined in <strong>AB</strong>-<strong>513</strong> and is authorized to inspect and certify a<br />
repair or alteration under his or her employer s quality management system Certificate<br />
of Authorization Permit.<br />
inspector means, the in-service inspector which performs integrity assessments.<br />
Inspection Company means a company that provides in-service inspection program<br />
services and holds the required Alberta quality management system Certificate of<br />
Authorization Permit to perform integrity assessments per PESR section 11(2).<br />
IMS means Integrity Management System, which is a system for ensuring that the<br />
pressure equipment is designed, constructed, installed, operated, maintained, and<br />
decommissioned in accordance with the PESR.<br />

Owner includes a lessee, a person in charge, a person who has care and control, and<br />
a person who holds out that they have the powers and authority of ownership or who<br />
for the time being exercise the powers and authority of ownership.<br />
Owner-user is an owner that has provided an Integrity Management System in<br />
accordance with the Pressure Equipment Safety Regulation and has been issued a<br />
quality management system Certificate of Authorization Permit under PESR section<br />
11(3).<br />
Pressure equipment means a thermal liquid heating system and any containment for<br />
an expansible fluid under pressure, including, but not limited to, fittings, boilers,<br />
pressure vessels and pressure piping systems, as defined in the regulations.<br />
Note: Fired process heaters that contain an expansible fluid under pressure are<br />
covered under this definition.<br />
Process plant refers to petrochemical, refining, upstream and mid-stream oil and gas<br />
processing facilities, kraft pulp and paper mills, chemical plants, power generation<br />
plants and other equipment that is not classed as public occupancy equipment.<br />
Public occupancy is defined as the occupancy of any facility where members of the<br />
general public are likely to be present. This would include schools, offices, shopping<br />
malls, stores, arenas, pools, restaurants, hotels, etc.<br />
Pressure piping system means pipes, tubes, conduits, fittings, gaskets, bolting and<br />
other components that make up the system for the conveyance of an expansible fluid<br />
under pressure and may also control the flow of the fluid.<br />
