California with BlueMotion Technology.
Safety.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles sets standards in sustainable mobility with its vehicles
featuring BlueMotion Technology. A technology package consisting of a start/stop
system, regenerative braking, cruise control and tyres with optimised rolling resistance
significantly lowers fuel consumption. This package can optionally be combined with
a 62 kW 1), 2) , 84 kW 3) or 103 kW 4) 2.0 l TDI engine, or with the 132 kW 5) 2.0 l BiTDI engine.
Instead of the standard 6-speed manual gearbox, the 103 kW 4) and 132 kW 5) engines
are also available with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG) with integrated coasting
function (in conjunction with a multifunction display). This makes it possible to
drive even more economically. The two more powerful engines can, as an option, be
combined with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Thanks to BlueMotion Technology, the
California with a 62 kW 1), 2) or 84 kW 3) engine consumes an average of only 7.0 l of fuel
per 100 km which equates to a combined CO 2 emission figure of 184 g per km.
The BlueMotion Technology badge.
The badge shows that you drive a vehicle
with particularly low fuel consumption,
therefore placing as little burden as
possible on the environment.
You should not only feel comfortable in the California but safe, too. An intelligent,
comprehensive safety system gives you support during the journey and offers you
the best possible protection from injury in the event of an accident.
Regenerative braking (not illustrated).
Special software for energy management
raises alternator voltage during the vehicle’s
overrun and braking phases. This
recharges the vehicle battery, relieves
strain on the engine and therefore reduces
fuel consumption. The alternator
voltage can also be lowered during the
journey.
Start/stop system. After shifting into neutral and releasing the clutch, the engine is
switched off automatically, e.g. at red traffic lights. To start the engine again, it is
enough to step on the clutch.
Tyres with optimised rolling resistance.
The California with BlueMotion Technology
makes contact with the road via
tyres with optimised rolling resistance.
The lower rolling resistance of these tyres
reduces fuel consumption and therefore
CO 2 emission.
Airbags. Optimum protection is paramount when setting off on long journeys. The California therefore has airbags for the driver
and front passenger as standard as well as side and head airbags. The front passenger airbag can be deactivated using the vehicle key.
