distance and at close quarters. It features 

H4 halogen headlights, modern styling on the

optimised shape. The interior is also focused

with long wheelbase. 

The Caravelle with short wheelbase already 

offers an extremely high level of comfort and 

ample space. Should you need even more 

room, simply choose the Caravelle with 40 cm 

longer wheelbase. This allows you to transport 

large and bulky luggage easily. Alternatively 

you can fit a fourth row of seats so that there 

is comfortable seating for up to eight with plenty 

of space and legroom. The modular mounting 

system, available as an option, enables seats 

to be easily repositioned or removed to suit 

the individual needs of your passengers. These 

40 extra centimetres are available for both 

the Caravelle Trendline and the Caravelle Comfortline. 

While the Caravelle Trendline with 

long wheelbase is the ideal vehicle for a daily 

shuttle service thanks to its hard-wearing 

interior and robust appearance, the Caravelle 

Comfortline with long wheelbase puts the emphasis

Exterior. 

The Caravelle offers prestige and luxury to meet even the most exacting requirements 

for passenger transport. Its striking appearance is marked by clear lines, a distinctive 

front section and the turn signals, which have been positioned further inwards. On 

request, dark-tinted windows, stylish chrome elements and electrically operated sliding 

doors with power latching are available to add even more character to the Caravelle.

Bi-xenon headlights. The bi-xenon headlights produce both high and low beams. 

This extends the field of vision to increase safety at night and in rainy conditions. The 

daytime driving lights and side lights are attractive, energy-saving LED lights.

Sliding windows. A sliding window on 

both the left and the right-hand side 

can be opened in an instant to supply a 

breath of fresh air. 

Rear wing doors (not illustrated). Instead 

of the standard tailgate, rear wing doors 

can be ordered as an option. On request, 

these have an opening angle of 250° on 

vehicles with long wheelbase and can be 

secured in an open position. Furthermore, 

both wing doors can be equipped

Engine underride guard. The robust aluminium guard provides a high level of protection 

for the engine and gearbox, even in extreme situations. Other protective 

equipment for the underbody can be ordered, for example an underride guard for the 

fuel tank. Please bear in mind that the increase in the vehicle’s unladen weight 

results in a lower payload.

Privacy glass. The dark-tinted side and 

rear window panes offer a high degree 

of privacy in the interior, while providing

The top quality interior of the Caravelle is a perfect complement to the impressive exterior 

appearance. The upholstery colours are carefully matched to the interior colour scheme, 

and the combination of robust materials and meticulous workmanship ensures that you 

transport your passengers in style. 

2-seater front passenger bench seat. Instead of a single seat, a 2-seater bench seat can 

be ordered for the front passenger side. As an option, the backrest can be equipped 

with a folding stowage tray (see illustration) that has two integrated cup holders and a 

pen holder.

petrol engine and a 150 kW* 2.0 l TSI with exhaust turbocharger are available for

The 2.0 l common rail TDI engines. The combination of small displacement, turbocharging 

and direct injection makes the TDI engines exceptionally efficient. Precise 

injection under high pressure means that the fuel burns evenly so that the engines 

deliver high output yet have low consumption. Low maintenance costs also contribute 

to the economy of these engines. Three 2.0 l TDI engines with output of 62 kW*, 

75 kW*, and 103 kW* are available for the Caravelle, also a 2.0 l 132 kW* BiTDI.

Wading depth: up to 300 mm. In the Caravelle, you can without difficulty cross standing 

water with a depth of up to 30 cm. Driving on flooded roads after heavy rainfall does 

not therefore present any problems. Measured with full load and a maximum of 30 km/h. 

Departure angle: 17°; approach angle: 21°. Driving on inclines is no problem for the 

Caravelle. Due to the wheelbase, the bumpers do not make contact with the ground 

even when the approach angle is 21°. Measured with standard equipment and full load. 

Ramp angle: 14°. The Caravelle can even easily cope with crests with a ramp angle of 

up to 14° so that excursions and short trips with your guests need not come to an abrupt

Caravelle with BlueMotion Technology. 

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles sets standards in sustainable mobility with its vehicles 

featuring BlueMotion Technology. A technology package consisting of a start/stop 

system, regenerative braking, cruise control, tyres with optimised rolling resistance 

and aerodynamic measures such as wheel spoilers significantly lowers fuel consumption. 

This package can optionally be combined with a 62 kW1) or 81 kW1) 2.0 l TDI 

engine, or with a 103 kW1) 2.0 l TDI engine plus 7-speed dual clutch gearbox 2) . The 

Caravelle with a 62 kW or 84 kW drive unit therefore consumes an average of only 6.8 litres 

of fuel per 100 km which equates to a CO2 emission figure of 179 g per km. 

Start/stop system. After shifting into neutral and releasing the clutch, the engine is 

switched off automatically, e.g. at red traffic lights. To start the engine again, it is enough 

to step on the clutch. 

BlueMotion Technology badge. The badge 

shows that you drive a vehicle with 

particularly low fuel consumption, therefore 

placing as little burden as possible 

on the environment. 

Regenerative braking (not illustrated). 

Special software for energy management 

raises alternator voltage during the 

vehicle’s overrun and braking phases. 

This recharges the vehicle battery, 

relieves strain on the engine and therefore 

reduces fuel consumption. The 

alternator voltage can also be lowered 

during the journey. 

Tyres with optimised rolling resistance. 

The Caravelle with BlueMotion Technology 

makes contact with the road via tyres 

with optimised rolling resistance. The 

lower rolling resistance of these tyres 

reduces fuel consumption and there fore 

CO 2 emission.

Electronic brake pressure distribution 

(EBD). When the vehicle weight is 

transferred to the front wheels during 

braking, EBD prevents wheel lock on 

the rear wheels. 

Tyre monitoring display. Should there 

be changes in pressure on any of the 

four tyres, a symbol is displayed to warn 

the driver to check tyre pressures as 

soon as possible. 

Daytime driving lights (not illustrated). 

The separate lights integrated in the 

headlights are switched on automatically 

when the ignition is activated and 

lower the risk of an accident in daylight. 

Should you order optional bi-xenon 

headlights for your vehicle, the daytime 

driving lights are energy-saving LED 

lights. 

Electronic stabilisation programme incl. 

electronic differential lock (EDL). The 

electronics prevent the vehicle breaking 

away through controlled intervention

Anti-lock braking system (ABS). ABS 

prevents complete wheel lock and therefore 

significantly improves the vehicle’s 

manoeuvrability when full braking is 

applied. 

Lashing eyes. There are six lashing eyes 

to secure your load in the passenger 

compartment and luggage compartment; 

and eight lashing eyes in the Caravelle 

with long wheelbase. 

Seat belt warning. This gives the driver 

a visual and acoustic warning if the 

seat belt is not fastened as a reminder 

to fasten the belt before setting off 

on your journey. 

Brake assist system. It recognises 

the speed at which the brake pedal is 

actuated. In the case of reflex or 

emergency braking, the system builds 

up full brake pressure more rapidly. 

Roof-mounted turn signals (not illus trat- 

ed). The roof-mounted turn signals at 

the rear of the vehicle offer greater protection 

from rear-end collisions. Please 

bear in mind that this alters the vehicle’s 

height by +76 mm.

Comfort. 

The Caravelle can be equipped with up to nine comfortable seats. The rest of the inte- 

rior is extremely comfortable, too. Excellent noise insulation, four sunblinds in the 

passenger compartment and various innovative driver assistance systems turn every 

journey into a relaxing tour. 

Headlight cleaning system. The washer jets for the headlight cleaning system can be 

extended as required and then retracted back into the bumper. The system works when 

high or low beams are switched on. It is linked to the windscreen washer system so 

that the headlight lenses are cleaned every fifth time the windscreen is cleaned. The

Volkswagen Genuine Accessories. 

The Caravelle is a comfortable vehicle for passenger transport that aims to fulfil all 

requirements. If you would like to have a few extras, Volkswagen Genuine Accessories 

offers interesting additional equipment options. These are developed in cooperation 

with our Development and Design Department, are of top quality and are available 

only at your Volkswagen dealer so that everything fits together perfectly. 

Cycle carrier. The carrier is made of anodised aluminium profile bars, weighs 13 kg, 

and can carry up to four bicycles (max. 60 kg). It has been pre-assembled and is 

therefore very easy to fit to the tailgate. The carrier is equipped with a theft-deterrent 

fastener. The opening function of the tailgate is not impaired by attaching this carrier 

(without bicycle).
