state number one and its companies<br />
from the airport and electrical<br />
industry, motor vehicle suppliers,<br />
machinery constructors and also<br />
many medium sized companies<br />
from production and service rely on<br />
a good working international airport<br />
to safeguard their success.<br />
“<strong>Stuttgart</strong> airport guarantees a fast<br />
and comfortable link to the global<br />
markets and is an indispensable<br />
location factor for the region”,<br />
explains Prof. Georg Fundel,<br />
managing director of Flughafen<br />
<strong>Stuttgart</strong> GmbH. “Furthermore,<br />
the airport is among the largest<br />
employment sites in the metropolitan<br />
area of <strong>Stuttgart</strong> with more<br />
than 10,000 jobs and thereby<br />
provides considerable employment<br />
impulses for the state.” The area<br />
encompassing airport and surroundings<br />
has the lowest unemployment<br />
in Baden-Württemberg.<br />
Also unique across Europe is the<br />
“airport trade fair centre”that can be<br />
seen far and wide and which the airport<br />
and the new <strong>Stuttgart</strong> trade fair<br />
centre form with their common<br />
attractive infrastructure. An important<br />
