The Canmore coal mines closed on Friday, July 13 th ,<br />
1979, <strong>and</strong> in celebration <strong>and</strong> recognition of the miners <strong>and</strong><br />
their families, Miners‟ Day occurs on the closest Saturday<br />
to July 13 each year. A parade starts at noon at the<br />
NWMP Barracks, followed by a free barbecue lunch in<br />
front of the museum.<br />
Ring in the New Year with friends <strong>and</strong> family - warm<br />
yourself by the fire, enjoy music <strong>and</strong> entertainment, lace<br />
up your skates <strong>and</strong> take a turn around the ice… there´ll<br />
be hot dogs <strong>and</strong> hot chocolate… <strong>and</strong> fireworks!!! At 9:30<br />
p.m. a series of loud star bursts will draw everyone´s<br />
eyes to the north end of the pond. Midnight Fireworks at<br />
Millennium Park .<br />
Every June, at the Fairmont Banff Springs, the Banff World<br />
Television/nextMEDIA Festival honours the best in<br />
television with its Rockie Awards. International program<br />
buyers, network executives, distribution companies <strong>and</strong><br />
independent producers attend the four day event to seek<br />
business <strong>and</strong> creative opportunities.<br />

Presented by the Canadian Mountain <strong>Art</strong>s<br />
Foundation, this annual b<strong>and</strong> festival takes place in<br />
mid-November. Founded in 1995 <strong>and</strong> named after<br />
long-time Canmore musician, Vic Lewis. Canmore<br />
plays host to 800-1,000 young musicians in a<br />
weekend of concert b<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> jazz b<strong>and</strong><br />
performances, workshops <strong>and</strong> clinics with esteemed<br />
conductors <strong>and</strong> clinicians.<br />
Held annually in the month of February, Canmore‟s<br />
Winter Carnival has indoor <strong>and</strong> outdoor fun in store for<br />
every member of the family. From ice carving to log<br />
sawing, ice hockey to musical concerts, performances<br />
<strong>and</strong> dances to art openings, skating <strong>and</strong> family fun -<br />
everyone in Canmore can find a way to have fun <strong>and</strong><br />
keep warm during Canmore‟s Winter Carnival.<br />
