Greetings! And welcome to the “After-the- Symposium, 2007” MEGA issue of USLR News. In this very-important issue, you will find reports from the various facets in attendance, at the Symposium plus the final “Unification Report.” As an added bonus, Carole Gauger’s story (and photographs!) from one of the many Tempel Lipizzan demonstrations, adds a personal touch. The folks at Tempel Farms wowed us all with their generosity, talents, organization, and more. We cannot thank them enough for hosting this all-important meeting. In addition to the reports, please see the story about Lips in ancient art by Polly DuPont, the Focus on Youth section story, etc., etc. 2008 Lipizzan Symposium Phoenix, Arizona November 14-16, 2008 The 2008 Lipizzan Symosium, to be held next November, will be in conjuction with the Spanish Riding School’s 2008 West Coast Tour. (Please see page 40 of this issue for further details on the tour.) Tickets will go on sale in May 2008. Ticket ordering information will appear in future issue of USLR News. The 2008 Symposium will mark the first annual meeting since unification of all groups into LFA. 4 - USLR News Fall, 2007 ON THE COVER: Detail from a huge baroque style painting by Ferdinand Wagner, depicting Kriemhild’s arrival in Passau at the side of her uncle, Bishop Pilgrim. The original painting is in The Great Assembly Room in the Town Hall (Rathaus) in Passau, Germany. Ferdinand Wagner, a Passau resident, began the painting in 1886. The horse’s groom is a self portrait of the artist!
