Has served the changing needs of the community
for more than 125 years. Assists individuals
to achieve self-sufficiency, reach and maintain
their maximum potential and live responsibly in a
healthy community and complex world.
Case Management Components: Case management
and support services are provided to families
to stabilize their housing and economic
conditions, while creating long-term solutions to
avoid crises and reduce government dependency.
Crisis Alleviation Program: Periodically offers
monetary assistance to those at risk of losing
their homes and/or having a utility disconnected.
Assistance can be up to one month’s payment,
depending on individual circumstances. Call for

Food Closet and Clothing Closet
Program:
By appointment only, we provide
three meals a day for a minimum of
three days to New Castle County
residents in need, as well as clothing
for men, women and children.
Security Deposit Loan Program: An
opportunity for low-income families
throughout Delaware to secure new
rental housing through the provision
of one-time-only loans for security
and/or utility deposits. Maximum
loan is $800, with repayment terms
tailored to the applicant’s budget.
Loans Plus Program: A statewide
program that offers an alternative to
payday lending. Working individuals
can receive a $300-$500 same-day
loan with an interest rate never to

Kent
Sussex
Provides emergency shelter and assistance to
the homeless and crisis
intervention for residents of Kent and Sussex
Counties.
Crisis Intervention: Clients who need assistance
with rent, mortgage or utility payments are referred
by State Service Centers. Program offers
one-time assistance to prevent homelessness.
Ruth N. Dorsey Relief Shelter: A 46-
bed emergency shelter housing
men, women and families for a 30-
