THE DA VINCI MYTH VS THE GOSPEL TRUTH<br />

For these Jews who believed in Jesus, and all the<br />

early <strong>Christian</strong>s were Jews, to switch over from strict<br />

observance of Saturday as their holy Sabbath to Sunday<br />

as the all-important “the Lord’s day,” as it is called in the<br />

New Testament, was a monumental shift. <strong>The</strong><br />

Resurrection was the cause of that shift. <strong>Christian</strong>s have<br />

been worshiping Jesus Christ on Sunday from the very<br />

beginning until the present.<br />

Dan Brown claims that “<strong>Christian</strong>ity honored the<br />

Jewish Sabbath of Saturday, but Constantine shifted it to<br />

coincide with the pagan’s veneration of the sun.” 132 It is<br />

true that Sunday is so-named because of the sun. It is<br />

true that Constantine made the change official, but what<br />

he is leaving out is this: <strong>Christian</strong>s worshiped Jesus on<br />

Sunday (on the Lord’s day) from the very beginning—to<br />

honor His resurrection. Constantine just made official<br />

what <strong>Christian</strong>s had been doing all along.<br />

CONCLUSION<br />

<strong>The</strong> Apostle Paul had to deal with a first century<br />

false teaching going around in the Church at Corinth.<br />

Some of the members of that church were claiming that<br />

there was no resurrection of the dead, which would<br />

imply that Jesus had not risen from the dead. Paul then<br />

wrote the following words, which have assured tens of<br />

millions of <strong>Christian</strong>s down through the centuries:<br />

And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is<br />

empty and your faith is also empty. . . . And if<br />

Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are<br />

still in your sins! <strong>The</strong>n also those who have<br />
