<strong>The</strong>n I pictured a person being allowed<br />
to wander for a lifetime around all seven<br />
continents. He would be permitted to bend<br />
down only one time and pick up a single piece<br />
of tile. What are the odds it would be the one<br />
tile whose reverse side was painted red? <strong>The</strong><br />
odds would be the same as just eight of the Old<br />
Testament prophecies coming true in any one<br />
person throughout history. 106<br />
If that didn’t boggle Strobel’s mind enough, Stoner<br />
demonstrated that the chances of any one fulfilling 48<br />
prophecies were 10 157 . 107 Strobel realized the incredible<br />
implications of that as well. It would be like finding “a<br />
single predetermined atom among all the atoms in a trillion<br />
trillion trillion trillion billion universes the size of<br />
our universe.” 108 Lee Strobel finally did the intellectually<br />
honest thing—he recognized Jesus as the Messiah. He<br />
has now written such classics as <strong>The</strong> Case for Christ and<br />
<strong>The</strong> Case for Faith.<br />
That Jesus of Nazareth fulfilled the messianic<br />
prophecies provides compelling evidence for the divine<br />
inspiration of the Holy Scriptures. <strong>The</strong> other 1,700 or so<br />
prophecies of the Old Testament deal mostly with the<br />
cities and nations that were in or near the land of Israel.<br />
<strong>The</strong>ir future is outlined in those prophecies. <strong>The</strong> major<br />
emphasis of Scripture itself is on those thousands of spe-<br />
