23 The Bible declares that no murderer has eternal life (1 John 3:15). That
means that no one who claims to be saved and goes out and commits murder
is truly saved. (That includes Albino monks, of whom there are none in Opus
Dei). We know in history that some who have claimed to be Christians have
murdered in the name of Christ, to wit, the Spanish Inquisition. But that doesn’t
mean what they did was right. It certainly wasn’t correct from a biblical perspective.
(In fact, some of those killed in the Inquisition were Bible-believing
Christians.) Furthermore, that doesn’t mean that such murderers went to
Heaven. A former murderer who repents and puts his faith in the salvation of
the Lord can be saved, e.g., King David (Psalm 51). But no one who is truly
saved will then go out and commit murder.
