3.2 Wollongong LGA
a. The small red and white ‘Watch for Cyclists’
sign on the power pole along Tasman
Parade and Hamilton Road, Thirroul, are
too small and faded to be seen by motorists
and should be replaced with standard RTA
‘Watch for Bicycle’ signs.
b. The damaged pavement between Bellambi
Surf Club and Bellambi Pool needs repair.
c. The vegetation and overhanging trees
between Thomas Street and Turner Street,
Bellambi, need trimming.
d. Repair damaged path adjacent to Turner
Street, Bellambi.
e. Bitumen path through Bellambi Recreation
area is uneven and needs repair.
f. The sharp corner in the path near Fairy
Meadow Surf Club requires a warning sign.
g. There was water over the path near
intersection Elliotts Road and Squires Way,
Fairy Meadow. It may be a damaged water
main under or adjacent to the path.
h. While the vegetation alongside the shared
use path between Elliotts Road and Stuart
Park has been trimmed the overhanging
trees also need trimming.
i. Some delineation is required to separate
people waiting at the bus stop or alighting
from buses opposite Campus East, Fairy
Meadow, from cyclists on the shared use
path.
j. Clean fallen rock and debris from the path
along the Old Tramway cutting to maximise
usable path width.
k. Improve visibility between the bus shelter at
the intersection of Corrimal St and Bridge St,
Coniston, and the intersection of Corrimal St
and Tom Thumb Rd by removing weeds and
trimming vegetation.
l. The shared use path between Tom Thumb
Road and the BuleScope Steel North Gate
Entrance has a number of concrete slab
offsets and exposed edges which need
grinding and/or filling.
m. Both the bridges over railway lines south of
the BlueScope Steel North Gate Entrance
need some attention to remove steps
between the on-bridge and adjacent path.
n. The damaged safety fence on the railway
bridge needs repair and raises the question
of the suitability of this type of fencing as a
barrier between the road and a shared use
path.
o. The section of path between Stockpile Rd
and Foreshore Rd, Port Kembla, has been
somewhat neglected and requires cleaning,
removal of obstructing vegetation, repair of
potholes and repair of adjacent fencing.
p. A short section of path in Heritage Park, Port
Kembla, required repair.
q. The section of shared path through the
Kemblawarra industrial areas along
Shellharbour Road is badly damaged in
many places and requires repairs. The
fencing adjacent to the path is also an issue
in places with damaged section protruding
into the path.
