Committee News ARC – Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. John Czak/Chairperson Phone: 614-5811 Email: jczak1@cox.net A Fresh Coat Of Paint - It’s hard to believe but our community is nearly ten years old, and many of our homes need to be repainted. Our Design Guidelines don’t require you to obtain ARC approval if you repaint your homes in accordance with the original Color Scheme. The Color Scheme is the combination of colors (typically three to five colors) associated with a specific house and model number. The house body and trim colors used in repainting must be from the color palette and have the same finish/sheen used by the Developer when the home was originally constructed. Paint used on the stucco body of the house must have a flat finish. In addition, the colors must be applied on the same specific areas of the house described in the Exterior Color Application Specification When your home was first purchased, the Developer provided a Construction Specification that identified the Color Scheme, as well as the model number, elevation and information on roof tile and masonry. The Exterior Color Application Specification was also provided. If you no longer have this information or have any questions about repainting, please visit the ARC at our regular Thursday meeting at 9:00 a.m. for assistance. This will ensure that your home is repainted in concert with our Design Guidelines. All our house colors have faded significantly in the hot Nevada sun and it’s risky to determine paint colors from samples of your exterior stucco. The ARC can provide you with all the original paint codes you need to repaint your home along with a list of paint manufacturers that may be used. If you wish to change your paint colors, you must submit an application to the ARC, just as you would for any change to the exterior of you home. In this case, we will be happy to assist you in identifying the Color Schemes available to you. Only one Color Scheme may be used on any home. You can’t mix colors from different schemes. Irrespective of which available Color Scheme you choose, the colors must be applied in accordance with the Exterior Color Application Specification appropriate for your home and model number. Election - Tuesday, August 12, 9:00 a.m. Sandy Howard/Vice Chairman Phone: 270-3793 Email: sanhoward@cox.net The Election Committee has selected Sandy Howard as the Chairman for the 2009 election year and Mary Bruner as the Vice Chairman. Both positions were confirmed by the Board of Directors at the June 26th board meeting. The July 8 Election Committee meeting, was held as a workshop, to review and make changes to the Election Committee manual. As part of the manual review, the Election Calendar for 2009 was drafted. The Committee has created the preliminary budget for 2009. The preliminary budget was submitted to the Finance Committee to be included in the budget reviews for the Association. At the August 12th Election Committee meeting, the revised Election Committee manual and calendar for 2009 will be reviewed for final changes. The Board has specified the “2009 Budget Development Guidance / Objectives”, and the departments are well along in budget preparation. Each department will present their proposed 2009 budgets to Community Association Management and the Finance Committee for discussion and modification as necessary. In August these public meetings will be held as follows: August 12 (Tue) 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Emergency Preparedness/Security August 14 (Thur) 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Fitness Department August 22 (Fri) 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Facilities/Landscaping August 22 (Fri) 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Admin/Election/Assessments August 26 (Tue) 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Communications The remaining department meetings will be held in September, followed by Board Workshops and Board meetings at which the 2009 Budget presentations will be made. Watch the bulletin board and check the Association website (www.sca-hoa.com) for the time and place for all 2009 Budget meetings. The culmination of the 2009 Budget development process will be the presentation to the residents for ratification at the November 20 Annual Meeting. The Finance Committee is always looking for volunteers who have a strong background in accounting and/or financial management, particularly with a CPA certification. Contact Finance Committee Chairman Don Manning if you would like more information. The other members of the Finance Committee are Vice- Chair Joe De Meo, Carol Haggin, Robert Murphy, Rich Pendleton and Jack Troia. All Finance Committee meetings are open to the public. We should all use our positive and creative energy to continue to grow this community. Opportunities are there for us to stand up and be counted and at the same time, reap the rewards of community service. Offering to help one of our many clubs that could use your interest and/or talents would be so greatly appreciated. Come on out to join your neighbors and friends The Lifestyle committee was asked to review our current Guest Policy for both association and clubs. We have been meeting once a week and will continue to meet thoughtout the summer until this task has been completed. We will be asking for input from our community during the summer to ensure that our needs have been met. Residents are invited and encouraged to attend the workshops and meetings. The workshops are on the first Thursday of every month at 1:30 p.m. and the regular meetings are on the second Friday of each month at 9:00 p.m. Plans & Processes Monday, August 4, 2:00 p.m. Warren Weitzman/Chairperson Phone: 361-1646 Email: big2@bigw.net At our last meeting on July 7, at 3:00 p.m. We finalized our "Budget and Capital Expenditures" process proposal in preparation for the workshop with the BOD, held on July 10. Our next meeting will be August 4, at 2:00 p.m. We will be starting discussions on a three year and five year plan. Carl did a great job as Chairman of the Properties and Grounds Committee. We would like to thank Carl for all he has done during his tenure as Chairman of P&G. New elections of officers for P&G were held during the May meeting. Joe Famulare was installed as the new Chairman and Linda Krivec was installed as Vice-Chairperson.
